America's "Best?" Wrong name

Posted Feb 21, 2016 on Hotels
We arrived on time and had the reservation in hand. I had requested a specific room type and on the first floor due to handicap. The clerk smirked and said "Oh that's too bad" they didn't have any of that ... They had another room type, and it was on the second floor, the farthest room possible from the front door. There are no elevators. I should have canceled right then and went somewhere else. For a no-smoking motel, you couldn't tell once you got inside. The hallways reeked of incense smoke. The room smelled of heavy cigarette smoke, despite it being a no-smoking establishment. A previous guest had drawn artwork on the wall showing pot and other things. There were burn holes in the blankets. The mattresses were badly in need of replacement. The walls are thin, and we could easily hear conversations of people in the room next door. Same for the couple across the hall. The television (old tube style, not flat screen) failed on several channels. My roommate opened the fridge to put bottles of soda in, only to find that previous visitors had left something behind. It had grown to the point where I'm fairly sure it had developed language skills. The washcloths are so thin I could see my hand through them. The towels are in the same state, but are also scratchy. It was like using sandpaper to dry off. This was my first experience with this chain. It was also my last. I cannot in good conscience recommend this motel to anyone.

Service was lacking. Tried to call ahead three times before someone answered. Breakfast selection was skimpy. I would say that the experience was adequate but not excellent.

Great location and price

Pros: Really close to shopping. The pool and hot tub were the best part.
Cons: Towels were super scratchy. Breakfast could be opened up to more options besides cereal and bread items.
Location: Right next door to retail stores, grocery stores, restaurants and downtown Stillwater.
Stayed here for the weekend with the family. Nothing too fancy but kept pretty clean. Pool and hot tub were the best part. Super close to anything you would need. Great location and price.

Extremely comfortable nights stay.

The Stillwater and surrounding area experienced a winter storm. Travel was not advise on the roads. A fellow employee had spent several night at the hotel and recommended them as a clean, relaxing and comfortable place to stay. She was correct! The only issue a few people were a little loud. Didn't receive my wake up call. Minor issues.
