Well appointed hotel in advantaged location
Posted Jan 14, 2017
The Radisson Blu in downtown Minneapolis is in the heart of the business district. All of the banks, accountants, law firms and their supporting contractors are within a four or five block walk. That walk is entirely within reach through the (heated) skyway system so, even when it's -8 degrees outside (as it was yesterday morning), one needn't venture out. On the other hand, when it's warmer outside, the hotel is within walking distance of the Mississippi River and its riverfront park. The workout room is more than adequate and I never found it to be too busy during my stay. My only concern is the marketing synergy with the in-house, street level restaurant there by the name of "Fire." For example, energy bars and apples are in the lobby for consumption, but only UNTIL Fire opens at 6 am. I understand why that's the case, but if Fire is unable to succeed unless the hotel guests are deprived of an energy bar, it speaks loudly to a marketing effort in tension, if not conflict, with the better interests of the hotel's patrons.
