The place is very quaint and welcoming; quite a charming environment. Most of the staff is helpful, especially Edwin And the young man who serves us breakfast and clean the rooms. Juan, the manager, tends to be a bit moody. But, he is still cordial. The place could improve on what it offers for breakfast; they serve the worst scrambled eggs we’ve ever tried! 😳 Adding some fruits to the menu would not be such a hardship and coffee and tea should be available all day.

The best thing about staying at Hostal Porta is the accessibility to the landmarks and safety as well. Very relaxed and comfortable staying in this place.

A Wonderful Little Gem
I don’t consider the hard mattresses a bad thing when taken in the context of superior services, super clean rooms, good breakfasts, the mellow atmosphere, and the wonderfully friendly people. I would definately stay here again and recommend it to all who want all of the above.

We stayed at this hotel for 3 days the price of this hotel we couldn’t pass up in a great neighborhood close to everything. The staff is super friendly fresh towels everyday and hot water which is great! Only complaint the internet wa spotty and you could hear everything as the walls are paper thin... and when i mean everything i mean EVERYTHING.

The best part of Hostal Porta . . . was the location. A couple blocks from the ocean! Easy walking distance to 'love park' and Larcomar! And the price was really good . . . worth every soles! I also liked the fact that Hostal Porta was small . . . quaint with character! I would definitely stay at Hostal Porta again!

Perfect location to visit Miraflores
Nice hostel, very professional staff, not modern but it offers everything required in a room including hot water and a fan which was on when we came back to the room after a long day. That was much appreciated to cool down. There is always someone at the front desk which is great when you have flights in the middle of the night. I stayed there on two occasions and would go back if I visit Lima again. Lastly, there is an airport express shuttle stops at approximately 5 minutes from the hostel so this is also very convenient as the shuttle is cheaper than a taxi.

A perfect spot to finish our stay in Peru, staff was extremely helpful and their was always someone cleaning the property. The best thing about the experience was the location!! Very pleased I would stay again

I've stayed here before and won't stay again. As usual the service is excellent and the location is good but that is about all the positives. Having black ants in a room (i saw about 10 during my 2 days there) isn't something i want to experiences again, Hurts when they bite.

Good location with friendly and helpful staff, however lack of heating caused the air in the room to be overly humid. We were moved to a dryer room near the center of the building which improved things. But it's something to keep in mind if traveling in cold or rainy weather.

I sort of enjoy Hostal Porta's location. It was close, 3 blocks away from downtown Miraflores, a couple blocks to the shore for famous lovers trail, a few blocks to Wong Supermarket (buying Piscos for souvenirs in 45 min.) Walking distance to at least two great Ceviche/Sea Food restaurants, "Afresco" and "Punto Azul." Building is in a classic setting, WiFi is good, at least, in our case. ( It seems Hotels in Lima always claim they have WiFi, but previous years the WiFi service is always spotty....) Taxis seem to turn into Porta street very frequently, and Juan, Jose or Bruno can always help you get a "local" fair price while hailing a taxi. $50 soles to Airport, $20 ($16) soles for Cruz del Sur stations. I think I will diffidently consider Hostal Porta again next time when we have 12-day trip in Peru.

The two areas that sets this hotel apart is the service & value: 1) service: especially from Bruno, Gabriel, and Juan at the front desk. They, like everyone who serves you there, treat you as if Hostel Porta was a 5 star hotel -- which it isn't. 2) value: the hotel itself was OK, relatively speaking, but once you consider the price -- the value is excellent. You are in a fantastic location, there was always parking right out front or you can use the secure parking. You have a variety of touristy or local restaurants and each evening (during the Summer) it is a 3 minute walk to watch the sunset and surf. The 'continental breakfast' was only bread, jelly/butter, fresh juice and coffee.

Quirky, well kept old home
We stayed at Hostal Porta as a medium sized business group and had a great experience. I think the reviews I read prior to the trip which best describe it are a "quirky" and "well kept old home". Overall this is what we were expecting and as such we were not disappointed. It has a lot of character which we appreciated! Breakfast was basic (coffee, tea, bread, jam and juice) but it was consistently served with a lot of love. The front desk was exceptionally helpful and the location is wonderful. Fantastic spot if you like to start the day with a walk or jog along the beach. Would recommend!

Few blocks from ocean and modern shoping mall, yet quaint neighborhood streets offer local shopping and food and cafe options. Very close to bustling streets. Very safe and clean area to walk.

Great confortable low budget place to stay in Lima
It is a good, quiet, confortable hostal, great for a family that doesn't want to expend much money in a luxury place to stay. It is an "old" well kept house, with espacious rooms and accomodations, they provide you with a traditional breakfast (juice,coffe,bread and butter). Located in the midle of the Miraflores shopping district, close to a New wonderful "Larco Mar Mall" next to the Pacific Ocean, within walking distance from shops, restaurants, big hotels, etc. Great confortable low budget place to stay in Lima.

Inexpensive, quiet and great location
The hotel staff is very friendly. They try hard to help you out. The hotel transfer is also a great deal. Less money than getting a cab and they'll have somebody waiting outside customs with your name on a sign, plus you can bill it to your room so you won't need to arrive with Peru currency. The rooms are small, but adequate. Private bathroom, queen bed, and a lockable closet. A small TV. The hotel is very quiet, unlike the hostals in the nearby area (dragonfly was partying every night). I was able to use the hostal's kitchen to boil eggs. The breakfast served is just a cuople pieces of bread with butter and jelly, plus coffee and one glass of juice. It wasn't quite enough for me, but it's easy to find good food in Miraflores. I had a great trip and was quite pleased with my choice of Hotel.

this is a very small hotel in miraflores neighborhood in lima. there was a bad smell in the room , and loud noise from the construction work that was taking place.if you do stay there ask to see the room first. also the location is not as good as other hotels. next time i will pay an extra 8$ for a better place....

Leider wurden wir bei unserer Ankunft gleich negativ überrascht, indem wir für die Nacht 10 Dollar mehr zahlen mussten als ursprünglich gebucht. Wer ein solch einfaches Hostel bucht, für den macht diese Erhöhung doch einen Unterschied. Die Unterkunft liegt sehr zentral und in einer sicheren Gegend. DIe Zimmer sind einfach und äußerst hellhörig. Das Frühstück ist zwar recht einfach, aber absolut in Ordnung. Leider sind die Bäder schon recht veraltet und nicht mehr in bestem Zustand.

Great place to stay
Great value for money. Located in a very quiet area of Miraflores, 10 minutes walk from Parque Kennedy. Airport bus (Lima Express) stops 5 minutes walk from the hotel. Wi-fi a bit weak in the room. Breakfast with eggs and bread, juice and coffe is included.
