Don't waste your money

It was very disappointing that the hotel room needed a lot of repairs. The handle to our shower was broken as well as other items. The food was not that great their menu is very limited and theirmixed drinks suck. It also annoyed me that you're required to wear pants to eat in their restaurant. I would not recommend this hotel! The pictures are very deceiving and their service sucks! oh and another thing that 500 resort credit promo is a scam!!!! it's not a resort credit it's 500 worth of discounts but you have to spend money on excursions through them in order to use it. They were way over priced so we opted out.

Noisy room and food poising

3 night stay started out with a loud buzzing noise all night long that would not allow me to sleep. I finally called the front desk at 4am. They sent someone to my room and shut the fan off in the deli below my room. I could immediately hear a pin drop. At that point it was too late. I could not get back to sleep. I went down to breakfast at 7am and thought about my horrible night. I decided to go to the front desk and see what could be done. They told me the fan would be turned back on and there was nothing they could do about it. They did offer me another room and it was a nice upgrade. But as the day went on I started to get sick. Obviously food poisoning from the food I ate at the resort. I spent the next two days with Montezuma's revenge, the chills and a horrible headache. So my three days at that all inclusive resort were horrible. When I checked out they did not seem to be concerned at all. I will never go back to that resort again.

The Best

Pros: The staff, room, and the view. We even like the food. We love the pool entertainment though we would appreciate a bit more energy as in the past.
Cons: All inclusive should be just that, You should not have to pay extra for a "Premium" plan. What about ALL Inclusive leaves room for exceptions.
Location: The location is about 10 mi. South of Puerto Vallarta and we love it. You can walk to the Zoo, go to town on a buss for less than a dollar, swim, etc.
We love the Barcelo and it will continue to be our choice whenever we come to Puerto Vallarta. The grounds are immaculate and the staff accommodating. We come here to relax and get away and we are always given that pleasure. Bring plenty of sunscreen, claim your sun chairs early (before 8) and use bug spray liberally. If you enjoy the nightlife or need to be close to Puerto Vallarta you may choose another resort. If you want to get away and be treated well, this is the place for you.

Paradise

Pros: EVERYTHING!
Cons: NOTHING!
Location: Definitely get a boat ride to Los Arcos with Mauro. Feed the tropical fish and then jump in the water and swim with them.
Comfy bed, excellent view, wonderful pool with swim-up bar, meet great people in the pool, $10 massage on the beach.... putting for sale sign in our front yard tomorrow and moving to Puerto vallarta!!! Just wondering if Barceló is hiring!!

HORRIBLE

This place is horrible! Staff was rude!! Food was horrendous....my boyfriend ended up with stomach issues after eating the food at the hotel. We had to take a taxi to the downtown area every night to find some decent food. Housekeeping would only come to clean the room at 5-6pm but ONLY after we made a call to have someone come turnover the room. All-inclusive isn't actually "all-inclusive" as they only allow you to eat at the restaurants that require reservations for a limited number of times during your stay. This has by far been the worst place I've ever vacationed to. The only good thing about it was the location...the ocean was beautiful there, but still not worth the stay there

It was only ok, cannot recommend for family trips.

Pros: Surrounding area was beautiful, but location was vary far(40 mins) from popular attractions. Getting up 5:30 on vacation sucked.
Cons: BS Dress code for restaurants. Pants needed in a 90+ climate, any T-shirt is acceptable? Why a dress code at all? $500 in coupons are not a credit.
Location: Book excursions online early with Vallarta Adventures to save $ on cabs. Great time, but be ready for high photo prices.
I have no problem with the service or the people working at the hotel.. The $500 resort "Credit" is complete BS. This is a series of coupons off select things at the hotel under select circumstances and really should be called discounts not credit.The Expedia CS rep was completely clueless as to what was provided here. I've included a pic for reference. The hotel itself is ok, but feels a bit outdated. Yellowed fixtures, dirty grout, old filthy ironing board, cheap and recycled decorations. Room 2503 is where we stayed and here are some of the issues we faced: -the AC would not get cool past a certain temp no matter how low you set it. -1 of the toilets was broken and had to be jerry rigged to fix. -one of the bathroom garbage cans was broken and did not open when you stepped on the lever. -There was a drying bar on the terrace to hang wet clothes which was also broken. -The shower did not have proper drainage and would leave a puddle once done- It also only had 1/2 sheet of glass for a wall, leaving the possibility of a soaking wet bathroom floor. -The elevators were cramped and did not have AC. 1st day there, we ran into a kid in a hoodie several times who just rode the elevator, trying to sell a pepper(?!). Seemed harmless, but the hotel shouldn't be the place where you feel you have to stand between someone and your family just in case Food was forgettable, always something off about the meals, VERY limited options for kids who don't want to expand their palates.

Nice location

Nice hotel overall. The food isnt the best and the entertainment is lacking. But it was clean and the staff was always friendly. There isn't a 24 hour bar. You can take a taxi into town for a good night out.
