Great value south of PV

Posted Oct 7, 2017
While it may not be overly deluxe, Casa Iguana offers a good stay for really good prices. The standard "room" gives you two bedrooms (3 beds), bathroom, living room and kitchnette, and I was surprised at the amount space. The 3 AC units were much appreciated considering it was the humid rainy season when we were there. The pool and included breakfasts were also great. The only downsides I would say are some minor disfunctions (ex: hot water in bathroom sink not working) and be a little farther from PV than I would like.

Smaller hotel in a cozy lush tropical setting

Posted Oct 2, 2017
Location: In Mismaloya, about 35 min away from Puerto Vallarta. There is a bus stop right before you cross highway 200 (it is just a road really in that location) to go to the beach. You can also easily get a taxi instead of a bus. If you head the opposite direction from PV, you can catch a bus to PV botanical gardens which is a pleasant place to visit if you have a bug spray :-) Mismaloya has a small but pleasant beach which is swimmable. The PV zoo is about 10 min walk. Food: There are a couple of restaurants on the beach and around the hotel. The hotel has a small restaurant where you can purchase breakfast (unless it's included in your room rate) and other meals. The breakfast is Buffet style when there are enough people. Hotel: Is smaller, 4 story building most rooms overlooking the pool and jungle. There are no balconies, instead you can seat on shared walkway in front of your room. This is not too bad. If you don't want to hear the neighbours from above ask for the top floor, but there are no elevators. Also, you would probably have a hard time cooking with limited utensils. The mattssses are hard, but comfortable enough and bedding is good. The rooms are clean enough. The AC may give you trouble due to horrific noise if outside block overheats. Overall, the hotel is decent and staff is helpful. It is good for the price, and onsite restaurant is not bad as well. The pool looked fine, but I didn't use them. The hot tub worked for a day as well.

Off the beaten path

The hotel is about 20 mins outside of town, but still pretty accessible by bus/taxi. We ended up canceling our rental car. The price also wasn't bad for a last minute booking. Our only issue was how loud the hotel guests were late into the night.

Nice Hotel, close to the beach.

Posted Jun 28, 2017
Pros: Staff, rooms were clean and a functional kitchen. Pool was nice and clean.
Cons: Hot water for showers - it was warm water. Have the Jacuzzi with hot water with no kids as posted.
Location: There is a beach just a 5 minute walk away with little shops/restaurants you pass on the way. The beach is pretty private and clean.
Hotel staff was nice. The rooms were very clean. Only a 5 minute walk to the beach. The kitchen was functional with pots/pans/dishes provided with a little store only a 5 minute walk up the street to buy food to prepare (making it affordable to not have to eat out all the time). Only encountered 2 problems - the hot water in the shower was warm not hot and the Jacuzzi was not hot (sign posted said no kids but there were kids in there all night). Overall this was a great hotel and I will be coming back here again with my family.

Not bad

Noisy a/c motor that would be my main complaint. The price was very cheap and only two blocks from the beach.

Couldn't ask for more

We loved Hotel Casa Iguana! I took my 20 year old and my 7 year old for some fun in the sun. The room was incredibly spacious and I loved that I could cook in the room. we stayed here because we wanted to be away from the crowds and hang out on the beach. If you want the hustle and bustle of Puerto Vallarta, dont stay here. If you want a great hotel for a great price across the street from a fantastic beach, this is your spot. But there is NO nightlife here. Staff are all super friendly and we shut down the pool each night.

Nice hotel great price and in a small village.

Posted Jun 4, 2017
Pros: Smaller hotel with a store on site and the staff is very friendly.
Cons: One night a large crowd of teenagers stayed and the staff let them party past midnight without quieting them down. until we said something
About 20 minutes south of Puerta Vallarta by bus and is located in a sleepy village of Mismaloya. Beach is just a couple of minutes away and we enjoy having a kitchen in our room. This was at least our tenth stay here and we generally enjoy our visits and will be back again.
