I’m as disappointed with Expedia as I am this hotel. When I made the reservation I clearly indicated it was for two people. It showed there were twin beds. When I got there they said because there was an extra person (my wife) I had to pay $75 extra for that night. I will never use Expedia again. This is the second negative episode in a week I have had with Expedia in which there were a “screw-ups”

A very peaceful stay near the shrine in Fujinomiya. It was nice to have a genuine tatami room sleep. If you are a big party this could be a really great place to book all rooms. If you have accessible needs, I will say there are a number of non-uniform stair cases, unexpected changes and dropoffs throughout, but in my opinion this is to be expected in an old building like this. If the accessibility notes aren’t a concern I would recommend this place to get a taste of quiet and more traditional Japan.

The hotel experience was awesome and the staff could not have been nicer. Beautiful lobby with garden view and appreciated the welcome drink from the bar. The room was spacious with a lovely bathroom. Decoration was truly Japanese, with tatami mats and sliding doors. The room provided appropriate clothing for the onsens…yukata, obi, sandals etc. The onsen was modern, spotless and spacious, with both inside and outdoors areas, the later made of large rocks. The shuttle service to other onsen areas and to and from the train station was an added plus.

A good spot to stay in Kinosaki. The room itself was pretty outdated with an old tv - I really enjoy when hotel TV's have casting capabilities which this one did not. But the service and meals service was excellent, it's a self-serve buffet style dining which is great if you're a slightly fussy eater like myself. A little disappointed that the room view was blocked by netting for maintenance, which Inwas advised prior to arrival but after booking. I think some form of discount would have been nice for the inconvenience considering I had booked a river view room.

The staff was very accommodating. There aren't any restaurants around, so including meals with your reservation is highly recommended.
