Charming

Posted Nov 20, 2017
Pros: Location within walking distance of restaurants. Charming setting.
Cons: General upkeep of property. Bed pillows were so thick that I couldn't use them at all. Headboard on bed not attached well and would knock against wall
Location: Many restaurants and bars within walking distance.
Very charming hotel with a great location near downtown. However, it is a bit shopworn, with facilities needing some upkeep and repair. But the towels were thick and wonderful. Breakfast room was shabby with stained carpeting, wrinkled tablecloths, and mismatched silverware. Food could have been better. The big, white tub for dirty dishes and large, outdoor-type trash can in which guests were to discard their garbage were downright tacky.

We had a lovely time, met the owner first hand, and the staff was really helpful in sharing fun things for us to do during our stay. Really pretty hotel with lovely breakfast. We would definitely stay again.

so glad we stayed here

Posted Oct 29, 2017
Pros: very pleasant staff, including the owner; great location; a very charming building with central courtyard
Cons: room amenities
Location: historic district, on the Mardi Gras route, easy walk to numerous noteworthy sites and to good restaurants on Dauphin St., close to interstate
Malaga Inn is visually fascinating (two very substantial townhouses from the 1860's joined to make one hotel) with a lovely courtyard, carriage house/breakfast room, and period furniture. Staff were patient in providing the building's history and a guided tour of the hotel. Great location for walking in the historic district and to downtown restaurants. Rooms were adequate but old-fashioned, lacking amenities such as a table to work at, grab bar in the shower, things we take for granted in chain hotels. But given the price, location, and ambience, we had a very fine stay at the Malaga Inn.

Close to cruise terminal but not worth it

Posted Oct 28, 2017
This hotel is very historic and the building/courtyard is beautiful but I would not recommend this hotel. I called ahead to verify they would hold my bags but when I got there they refused. I had to sit around town with my bags for 4 hours until check-in. The woman at the front desk was very rude to the point that I almost booked a different hotel for the night. The room was historic but the rug was disgusting. The bottoms of my feet were black from walking around and the shower took forever to drain. To top it all off there was no lights in the room and I couldn't even see to put my makeup on. Please do yourself a favor and don't book this hotel.

Bad bed

The place desparey needs new mattresses. There were no washcloths. I asked at desk for some and was given very large face towels. A historic place in need of repair and updates.

Our room was dirty and the staff is rude.

Posted Oct 21, 2017
There is zero chance I would ever stay there again. My room was filthy, didn’t have toilet paper! I called down and asked if they could bring some up they said no we are changing staff.. I couldn’t use my balcony because the old food cigarette butts and beer cups out there. The staff never even came cleaned it.:

I am so sorry this happened. We have had a few issues with management lately but I assure you this is not how we do business. If you would private message me so we can talk I would greatly appreciate it. I would like to know which room you stayed in and which staff member was rude to you. If you have the time, lets please talk about this. Kind Regards,

The worst hotel room I have ever seen.

Posted Oct 16, 2017
The room was not available at check in. We were told the room was still being cleaned, but when we finally got to the room it was disgusting. There were dead roaches everywhere. We had no towels or toilet paper either. There was not even a toilet paper holder in the bathroom. We talked to the front desk and they assured us our room would be cleaned. We left the hotel and when we returned the room was still dirty. There were still dead roaches on the floor, as well as hair from the last guests. We did get towels, and a roll of toilet paper set on the tank of the toilet since ther was still no paper holder installed. Additionally, the amenities listed for the room were not provided. There was no iron, coffee pot, or hair drier in the room as advertised

Excellent location and hotel itself wonderful!

Posted Oct 15, 2017
Absolutely loved checking in and Jenny at the front desk was over and above in helping us with suggestions and recommendations. Hotel was amazing and very clean and comfortable with details that you wouldn’t normally find. However on checkout, encountered an extremely rude and disinterested front desk staff who neither acknowledged nor offered anything in the way of assistance. Matter of fact even after standing and waiting for several moments didn’t even raise her head to in any way respond to my greeting or presence. She was in no way occupied with a phone or other guests so her behavior was I found exceedingly unacceptable. Because of my first comments mentioned earlier I will book another stay in the future and sincerely hope that the negative issues concerning the day staff member are addressed and corrected,

Great location. Needs a little work

Posted Sep 28, 2017
Hotel was nice for a short overnight stay before our cruise. Hotel location was very convenient to downtown. The hotel had a very cute courtyard. Room was clean but needed some work. Outlet in restroom was broken, light in entranceway was out, vanity door was broken. Breakfast was an average continental. Parking was easy. I would stay again for the price
