Elegant villa

Posted Jan 19, 2014
Pros: The atmosphere, the quality of service, the building, the food, the setting and the furnishings.
Cons: The sign at the entrance on arrival by car is small, it would be helpful if it were larger.
Location: Driving distance to Scicli where Montalbano's police station is situated.
The hotel is a sympathetically converted stone villa with a contrasting, very modern, glass restaurant, heated by a wood burning stove, set in the grounds. We ate both a main meal and pizzas in the restaurant and very much enjoyed both. There are very many good restaurants to choose from nearby, yet we noted Italians, who were not staying at the hotel, chose to eat there. We stayed seven days in the best suite, a bedroom and sitting room furnished with antique Italian furniture, including a beautiful black lacquer bed decorated with mother of pearl, both rooms with decorated stone floors, and an en suite shower room. The shuttered rooms looked out over a patio and the surrounding countryside. Adjoining the suite was a central breakfast room. Breakfast was freshly made croissants, some of the best I have eaten anywhere, and sweet tarts, with a selection of cheeses and prosciutto and coffee or tea made to your liking by the receptionist. There is a small comfortable sitting room furnished with literature about the area and quality Ciomod products, such as their chocolates or liqueurs, for sale at the reception desk. Either G or T were there mornings and evenings to give a very personal, friendly service and provide us with information about events in the surrounding area. The level of service, furnishings and decoration have been carefully considered and are well maintained. We had a hugely relaxing stay and were very reluctant to leave.

On the Montalbano trail.

Not well signposted, but worth searching for. The villa is beautiful, and the welcome excellent. Unfortunately the pool was closed (in mid-October), but everything else charming.

Sicilian satisfaction

Posted Sep 29, 2011
Very lovely hotel on the outskirts of Modica - very helpful and friendly staff - good continental breakfast - rooms very clean and fresh towels every day. Pool was cold but that was the only complaint as otherwise the hotel has a very warm and friendly atmosphere with the restruant/pizzarea that is with the hotel only a minute or so walk away.

"Sold on Sicily"

Staff/Owner could not be more helpful and welcoming. Pool excellent. Seems to cater to casual traveller (as opposed to one/two week holiday stay). Ideal base to explore the area.

Would Defintely stay here again!

Posted Jul 30, 2011
The pictures don't do this place justice. We reviewed nearly every hotel, villa B & B in this area on TripAdvisor and finally settled ont his one, coincidently it was 5 mins drive from where we needed to be. The pool is glorious with a diving voard and kept very clean. The rooms were serviced each day and the breakfast was great. Dominico was wonderful and helpful and speaks english! Security here is also fantastic. The only down side would be that we weren't told about a pool party being held for an external event at the pool one night, which was right by our room and partygoers had full run of all areas it seemed - this went on until about 3am.

A good friendly hotel

Posted Oct 14, 2009 on Hotels
The staff were particularly helpful. The hotel has character and extensive grounds. This in an area of Sicily that is not particularly well served with quality accommodation. The only real shortcoming of the hotel was the difficulty in finding it. It's located on a very minor unnamed road off the main Strada Statale - the hotel signpost from the main road is almost impossible to see in the dark and the hotel itself has no signage on the building just lots of lights on at night.

A due passi da Modica

Posted Oct 21, 2013
Laura e Daniele
