Very nice hotel with short walk into town

Posted Aug 21, 2015
Friendly helpful staff There was unfortunately an error on booking, I booked 4 rooms instead of just two for my family! I was very worried and upset as the payments would have been made on my credit card Johanna from the hotel handled this wonderfully so much so we bought her flowers It was really nice to have the short walk to the restaurants in the port

Good hotel

Posted Aug 11, 2015
Only one negative. The pool is quite small and was busy with children and would be in shade from 4pm. That aside our stay was excellent. A highlight was breakfast which was our best in six weeks in France and the staff were particularly helpful especially the waitress from Manila.

When booking this hotel I was under the impression that it was in Monaco but then found out it was actually in France. Other than that it was ok

Fantastic location, good facilities

Posted Jul 17, 2015
Enjoyed my stay at this hotel, great facilities, fantastic location. Staff helpful and work very hard. (Some work too hard as the hotel does seem to staff at a minimum level.) Tip for getting from Nice airport as airport bus no longer stops at hotel - get off bus at Place Des Armes, them either cross the road and get bus 6 to hotel or turn right and get the lift down to shopping centre, walk through past Carrefour, bear right and continue straight on past stadium, hotel on left (10-15 mins).

très déçus

Posted Jun 26, 2015
Bref. Un cadre très décevant.

Hits and misses

Posted Jun 7, 2015
First, if you are driving, it's quite a serpentine route to get there, in a cramped and windy streets. GPS is pretty essential. Second, the welcome was excellent (Peter) who explained all preliminaries (there are too many, frankly); but he could not have been nicer. Third, the rooms are comfy and spacious. I was a little perturbed, however, that having booked many months in advance, we were given a lowly second-floor room (of eleven). Not much of a spectacular view from that level. Fourth, the restaurant is a double disaster: caviat emptor. Though it is reasonably affordable and has a very fine brunch, there are grave problems of organization and service. Brunch: our first day, we descended at 9:20. Bins were no longer being filled, eggs were almost all gone... None of the 2 days was the omlette maker anywhere to be seen. Arggh! Dinner: pleasant welcome followed by a meal that took 90 minutes to arrive - and then only thanks to a threat to leave immediately. Fifth, the pool area (there is no beach access) is completely neglected: had to go into the bar to ask for a pool drink (VERY limited); had to go inside to ask for an umbrella against the sun... This Marriot prides itself on its accessibility to English speakers but some of its features need serious improvement. All this was reported to management upon check-out.

Monte Carlo , where less costs a lot more

Posted May 31, 2015
Monte Carlo is definitely a place for the extremely wealthy which I am not . We stopped here to break up our journey from Florence to Paris . This was the most expensive hotel we had booked for our 9 week tour of Europe and expected this because after all this was Monte Carlo . What we did not expect was the 50 eu charge for wifi or the extravagant charges to use the coffee in our room . There was absolutely nothing included with this room but I guess this is the norm for Monte Carlo . It was interesting to see this place but we felt like we didn t belong there . For such a highly rated hotel we were disappointed , carpets were stained and our wakeup call was ignored so it was a scramble to catch our train .
