Convenient to Regional Golf Tournament

Posted Apr 18, 2017
Pros: Location
Cons: Breakfast choices
Location: It is in good proximity to shopping, restaurants, ULM, and Calvert Crossing Golf Club where we needed to go.
We needed a hotel close to the local golf club since my son was playing in a regional qualifier. We chose this hotel because of location and other reviews for hotels in the area. We were pleasantly surprised to find this hotel on the outskirts of West Monroe and subsequently down wind from the paper mill smell just up the road. We did have to encounter the smell when we went to dinner and to the local Academy for some golf supplies and after that we were really glad we didn't have to smell it while we tried to sleep too! The room was comfortable; however, the A/C was a bit off. We kept turning it up and down because there was no happy medium, either too hot or too cold but we never found the "just right." My husband and son both slipped in the shower because there was no bath mat and the bottom of the tub was very slick. That was good for a laugh but could have been bad if either of them had been hurt. The breakfast was okay; although, the fruit looked a bit old and we ate early at 7:00 in the morning. The staff were nice and accommodating. All in all, it was fine for our needs and not as expensive as some of the hotels in the "smelly" zone would have been. Also, when in Monroe, don't drink the water! The Hamptom at least explained the yellowish color and provided bottled water with the bathroom supplies.

Late night stay. PO

Hotel fairly new. Checked in late at night. Both my son and I thought how unfriendly the person at the desk was. Rest of the staff was very friendly.

Wonderful hotel. Great Staff!

Pros: Everything
Cons: Breakfast. But do precooked bacon with the eggs.
Location: Right down the street from great restaurants, and just down the highway from all the shopping.
Traveling through unexpectedly due to weather. Great hotel.. wonderful facilities, knowledgeable and friendly staff. Breakfast was great for what it was.

great staff but uncomfortable beds

Posted Dec 26, 2016 on Hotels
the staff at the hotel was wonderful and it was very clean. The two complaints we had was the bed was extremely uncomfortable. The other complaint is a little out of their control. the water was yellow and stunk, I felt dirtier after a shower than before.

The overall hotel was very new and clean. This translated down to the cleanliness of the room, sheets and towels. The continental breakfast had a nice variety of food and overall was better than the usual provided. What I did not like about the hotel was the paper thin walls. I could hear the full conversation of the people staying in the room next to me as heard when the people above me woke up at 5:30am and were walking around their room. It's too bad this nice hotel invested so little in the soundproofing of the rooms.
