We were traveling on I20, and stayed at the Red Roof. Price was right and the room was clean, comfortable and quiet, so perfect in that regard.
We had 2 concerns. I only learned that the elevator was out of order when we arrived and we were on the third floor. She could not easily change us, so we took the stairs (we are in our 60s, so usually a change to a lower floor is a reasonable accommodation). The clerk made it sound like it would be too hard to do and they could not honor the price we already paid for the room. They also had a sign for a $50 CASH deposit, but they did not collect it, which was good since the morning shift clerk did not offer any returns.
My other concern was that the water in the room was discolored. Probably old pipes. Bring water for drinking if you have it. We just went to McDonald's when we left, which was a good move since coffee service did not begin until 7:30 am.
