First time RIU customers

Pros: Proximity, food, cleanliness, friendly staff, helpful staff, room
Cons: Have an up scale selection of alcohol (for purchase), we had difficulty getting consistent response from house services, shampoo emp, need more towels
Location: We didn't leave the property except for tours & golf. The location is excellent minus the fact it is directly under the airport east take off.
Seven (7) days, great vacation spot, people very friendly (staff & guest), many interactive games for all, entertainment was adequate, food had variety and well prepared. Would do the experience again.

Oldest of RIU's in Jamaica, but good value

Pros: Hotel staff is courteous and helpful. Resort looks good and is calm ambience.
Cons: Moldy odor from rooms, that made our belongings smell like mold, better lunch menu and quality alcoholic beverages for an all inclusive resort.
Location: There is a plaza walkable across the street from the hotel that offers souvenirs and touristy stuff.
Being the first time in Jamaica, I figured every RIU resort is equal. I did not realize RIU Montego Bay, was literally a bay with no clear blue ocean water. The bay is not attractive or pleasing and tends to have that slimy foliage when you are walking out in the water. I came to a tropical island to enjoy such waters, it is better to book at the other RIU resorts where they offer such. Only one restaurant is open for lunch and food qualtiy is only ok. Dinner restaurants require collared shirts and no sandals for men, food quality is good. Dinner buffet is casual attire. I upgraded to the suite with my girlfriend, the room is visually pleasing, offering a hot tub next to the bed, but the room had a musky/moldy smell. The fan and AC was kept on 24/7 to help circulate the air, but when we returned back to America, our clean clothes in our suitcases, along with our suitcase SMELLED like mold. Also,The patrons at this resort appear to be 98% white and between ages of 45-60 years old. The alcohol served is watered down, even the vodka, jamaican rum, or gin that is provided in the room tastes watered down, even if they are known brands, which is odd.

Lovely grounds with a beach with plenty of shade

We had a garden view room on the 1st floor. The tile work inside was beautiful. We really liked the double sinks in the bathroom. The television in the room had an issue but maintenance came to the room within 10 minutes. We also received a follow-up call from the front desk. The grounds are beautiful with lots of flowering plants. There are plenty of pool and beach lounges. One pool had a ramp for wheelchair guests to enter the pool. Their was a variety of food choices at this large resort. The staff was polite and several went out of their way to make you feel welcome.

Great trip mon!

Pros: Very clean, even though the facility seemed older. Great variety of food that is always available any time of the day! Nice to have a gym and spa.
Cons: bigger gym, hot tub access after gym closes, update entertainment stage/lights looks old, working ATM, new mattresses, room fresheners, more beach fun
Location: Beaches not as pretty as in Negril. We were able to take tours and taxis to wherever we wanted to go, decent area, not a lot nearby though
Our hotel was all inclusive and it was definitely not a disappointment! There was always an abundance of food at any time of the day and all different types no matter what your preference! This is not my first Caribbean all inclusive resort, but it was definitely the best! From the time we arrived two adults, 2 teens, we were taken care of with friendly service from the front desk, our housekeeper, the beach staff, the pool staff, and definitely the entertainment crew! The facilities were always clean, and well kept. It felt very safe and there were many tour offerings as well. There were many choices for food and drink. The shows were the home staff entertainment, but they were very well put together. It was also nice that the catamarans and paddle boats etc.... were also included. Many places will say all inclusive, then nickel and dime you for the little stuff. This place is truly, all inclusive, wish we could have stayed another week it went by too fast!

We had a absolute wonderful time here. I found the resort to be clean, beautiful and the food was great!!! Staff was super friendly and asked everyday how our experience was. We got a really decent deal and thought this resort was going to be mid range and a 1 time visit. That wasn't the case. We will be back for sure.

Pros: The staff they made you feel like You could stay there forever, very friendly and extremely helpful
Cons: The roooms the mattress and pillows and the bathroom and the towels they were not soft and the where brown, and the look old
Location: They had busses to take you around town and that's was very convenient and the tour guides was excellent
Had a great time, but the bed was horrible and the pillow was very hard and the bathroom smelled like mold. The staff was excellent and they had all different kinds of food and it was good. They keep you busy all day with lots of different things to do. But the rooms could use upgrading.

Business Trip

Pros: Proximity to airport and Montego Bay. Close to shops across the street.
Cons: Staff could be a little friendlier and more prompt when you request things, but I think they're used to people staying there on vacation, not business
Location: OK beach, and very convenient to the Montego Bay airport.
Third time I've stayed there so I'm a repeat customer. I travel annually for a business trip in Montego Bay and the location is convenient to downtown (as convenient as a taxi ride in Jamaica can be). The staff is fairly friendly, and the food is average. Was turned away several times for dinner at the nicer restaurants because they were full, and the buffet frequently ran out of food. Bartenders are great, especially Erol and Rasheed. Rooms are spacious with a nice king bed, but they're not very soundproof.

TERRIBLE beach....RUDE staff...AVOID!!!!

Pros: The rooms were OK and so was the kids' entertainment at night 7-7:30
Cons: MANAGEMENT and STAFF needs to be trained on how to communicate and treat people
Location: Only thing you can go is go "shopping" in Montego Bay.
HORRIBLE beach! No snorkeling sites and very muddy water. We were told that this is the main beach in Jamaica, thus the LOUDEST AREA on the island-- airplanes fly over your head 24/7. Short beach-- no place to walk around to or even take pictures. No fun activities on the beach only at the pool. RUDE lifeguard-- you cannot swim or snorkel without an attendant, and a 1 YEAR OLD MUST wear a one piece bathing suit! When we confronted management, we were told that these "rules" are non-existent...Jamaicans does not even SELL bathing suits for children under 4 years of age! You can smoke marijuana on the beach but not cigarettes--go figure--hotel was NOT listed as a non-smoking place! There is no bathroom anywhere in sight close to the beach-- completely unacceptable for people who need to use the bathroom while not in their room! Men are not allowed to wear SHORT SLEEVED shirts at dinner. Staff was extremely rude and unhelpful! There was always someone to make a mean comment or tell you NOT to do something. Food was OK. You have to pay to use the pool table and when you try to do so the girl on duty at the casino looked at you like you are bothering her and interrupting her facebook-ing time....
