Location was great, room was horrible. Bathtub drain was backing up and sink pillow was dirty fridge was leaking. Food was Average not the greatest. Would not return to this hotel.

The hotel was not modern or up to date. I went with my older mom who is visually challenged so it was hard getting up and down the stairs. There was no elevators and no ramps. Room 53 smelled moldy and it was humid. The outside premises needed some TLC. I also bought a deluxe room Pkg but was given a standard room which I didn’t fully appreciate. However the food was amazing and the staff was very friendly and accommodating and helpful, someone was able to present a wheelchair for my mom, which I truly appreciated

Customer service was excellent. Front desk staff was very helpful and accommodating with our check in. Room was spacious and loved the patio view from my room! Bar staff were soo friendly! Smiley was especially nice to us! He was soo happy and helpful with anything that we needed. A pleasure to see him every day! We also loved being so close to the beach that we could get in the water every day! We enjoyed our stay! I would stay again! Thank you Shaw Park!

The property was or could have been much better. The decor needs updating, and the room had stains on the floor and also the toilet was leaking and therefore difficult to flush. There were no phone in the room.

First day on the property I was told that I had a balance. After explaining to Cassanndra at the front desk that I had paid in full she refused to accept my explaination even when I showed her my hard copy. I had to call Expedia who inturn called her right away to clear up the misunderstanding. Then I got to our room and key didnt work at all, finally we found the right one and the room was hot and muggy. So we went back to the front dedk to speak with Cassandra again. We recieved a second room, we found out that there wasn't any hot water, we couldn't call out because the phone didn't work, so back to the front desk. We asked for another upgrade and was told that the Beachfront Duluxe was unavailable because the hotel wasnt using that section. During the night there was a fire and it apparently knocked out the air conditioner and the water. Woke up in a very hot room and the funny smell that irritated my nose. When I wiped my nose the tissue was black, that was the same for my friend. Spoke to other guests and found that they had the similar thing happen to them. The front desk manager was now available and moved us to the second part of the hotel. Ms. Lashawn was very helpful in trying to accommodate us. We moved a third time temporarily and a fourth to the very end of the hotel. Woke up on our final day, there wasn't any hot water. Back to the front desk, the phones were still out of use. Not once did Mr. Michael Callen the resident manager offer any apologies.

I loved that they were accommodating even during the busy Easter Holiday, I did not initially have a reservation but they made space. I could have done with out the rush of people they had come through the hotel from different cruises.

The beach was great and maintained daily. The food was good and the restaurant and bar staff were very friendly and helpful. The a/c did not work in the living room but was very good in the bedroom. Hot water quit working but with the heat a cool shower was ok. I would return at the right price, but it is not being well maintained. The spa was great.

We booked this hotel for just one night as we were staying in Kingston on business and wanted a bit of a beach vacation. We were warned from previous reviews that the property was old and needed lots of work. They weren't wrong! However, the hotel is on a lovely beach with great swimming and virtually no motor boat traffic. Our room was good with no problems mentioned by other reviewers - the water pressure and temp of the shower were great! The food was quite good - mainly Jamaican style. The staff were superb and worked hard to respond to any requests. It has a homey atmosphere with friendly guests chatting with each other and staff. The hotel was built in the 1960s and most of the original design is still apparent - the main building is quite lovely.

The property is old and stricken in age. Need TLC. I almost fall of the balcony because the rail gave way. This is not safe. The hotel is a god location, good beach actually the best I have seen but it needs remodeling.

I enjoyed my stay Shaw Park. I wanted a quiet get away in a facility close to the beach, and I got that. The staff was friendly and not imposing. The food was good. I liked the ambiance of the extended lobby area. However the bathrooms need an upgrade.

The staff went above and beyond to make us happy. It's not your huge all inclusive with thousands of people so amenities are few. Nice little place to stay for a few days. Close to attractions. Hopefully they will renovate soon.

No frills all-inclusive hotel
Shaw Park hotel is one of those hotels I would go to if I want to just relax and not want to leave to go exploring or have to try find food. It is quaint and has an old world charm to it. The food though limited in menu options is quite tasty and well cooked. The staff were generally very quick and friendly. Good night entertainment. Nice beach as well. Nice room also. Basic but clean. The downside comes in as you begin to compare the finer details. Spotty Wi-Fi. Bar didn't carry full range of liquor. Lower end of the scale too. Bartenders served weak drinks or improperly made drinks. Bar opened late. This is what made the experience ordinary and not the wow. I would go back if wanted to escape, relax and not want to leave the property, as well as not wanting to be "fighting" for food (long wait in line) like you tend to find in the larger hotels.

A hotel of past glory
This is an old hotel that badly needs renovation. Although it charges resort like fees, it does not include lunch or dinner like other Jamaican resort hotels. They don't tell you that unless you ask before ordering dinner. The WiFi is sporadic and, seemingly, not in all rooms. Working cable TV is similarly a hit and miss, depending on which room you get. Positives: They do an awesome Jamaican style hearty breakfast and have decent coffee.

The hotel location is fantastic. The beach & sea bathing is the most wonderful experience & this is whst we were looking for. The property has jaded elegance, with some lovely architectural features. The staff was very accommodating & the cleaners are dedicsted.

I love the staff. So helpful and kind. The property also is on the beach with easy access to the water. The area was peaceful and quiet. The food was very good and it was authentic Jamaican dishes not just tourist food. I would definitely recommend it and plan to go back again

The lobby area felt cozy. There was someone ready to take our luggage and provided us with a cool drink. The place was well kept. The food was well prepared and attractively presented. The servers were attentive to the guests. The smile of one of the servers was warm and very welcoming - I am sorry I didn't get the name of that male server but you could tell that he loves his job. The live entertainer they had on Friday did a great job with his vocal abilities, instrumental skills on the steel drum. Area for improvement: (1) the shower stall hot and cold taps did not correlate to standard - the middle tap seemed to control the hot water, I wasn't sure if the left or the right tap was producing the cold water. (2) the metal rod that holds the shower curtain was corroded. (3) the pipe taps need to be changed, they were old as well. (4) the floors in the bathroom and bedroom had stains on them. (5) the TV reception on some of the channels was grainy and you could hardly tell what channel or show you were watching. (6) the pool table was extremely old and needed to be replaced immediately.

The property is a gem just begging to be polished. Infrastructural upgrades, complementing it's old world charm, and the dedication of the loyal staff members, would definitely increase occupancy exponentially. This is a HUGE potential going to waste. My teenaged daughters were bored stiff. The food however, was really good. Just needed more variety.

The overall experience was a 6 out of 10. The staff are nice but the amenities are okay. The drinks are not that great and the food is good since it is homeade Jamaican food. If you do not like Jamaican food, then you will not like the food because that is all they serve. No toiletries in the bathrooms so bring your own.

Disappointed stay.
The hotel is outdated and seems like it has been left to deteriorate. The pictures are nothing like what the hotel looks like. I was very disappointed and should be given a refund. The price was more than much better hoteks.

Enjoyable but could be better!
I booked a Beachfront Superior room last minute for myself and a friend. The room was VERY clean but the air freshener was overpowering and we had to leave the patio door open for a bit to breathe properly lol. The bathroom was nice and clean as well. A beautiful private beach is right outside the door and the pool was very close as well. The pool however needed maintenance as there were plenty of leaves and insects enjoying the water. The food at the hotel was delicious, especially during the authentic Jamaican breakfast and dinner. Lunch, however, was much more simple as you select from a prefixed menu. We were slightly disappointed only because the standard was set so high from the previous meals. The bar was equipped with a great deal of options and I highly recommend the rum punch. The wifi was only reachable while in the lobby. Overall, the place is beautiful and we enjoyed ourselves despite the few discrepancies.
