The drive along the coast is amazing no matter what Mother Nature is up to. Behind the museum entrance, Pacific House has a gorgeous courtyard. A small fountain with koi sits in the center, Adobe walls all around, and shady trees. A quiet, Pacific, rest place.
So many lovely flowers, even in the winter! My first whale sighting! Cannery Row- formerly the west coasts largest sardine producing area, now focusing on hooking tourists. Have been on their tours twice so far. They are professional and the boats are good size - easy to get around from side to side (I always seem to be on the side where the whales were not!!) #localgem Cute seals playing and sunning. Also try the spics salami. YUM! Situated in a large yet unassuming warehouse on Cannery Row, this was the most amazing place to take my children; even teenagers are awed by the plethora of exhibits. The most beautiful succulent ground cover along the drive through Pebble Beach community. Who knew that sardines can move in such fluid, musical motion? Simply captivating. Eerie resident of the Aquarium. That's a seahorse, not a weed! Established in 1959, the Cottage of Sweets is a mainstay in Carmel-by-the Sea. It hosts all kinds of sweets from the local area, in addition to an impressive selection of British favorites. Visit the aquarium. Be a part of a community capturing wonderful jellyfish! Although I tend to not like keeping animals in enclosures, large aquariums can be invaluable resource to educating the general public about the importance of protecting our oceans and the many types of marine life. NO EDITING: this surfer cought series of waves. The sun was awake but the weather was freezing, and it was July.... Great shot off 17 Mile Drive. :) Popular marina destination offering numerous eateries & shopping, plus views of sea lions & otters. This is one of 21 of Spanish Catholic churches and was the second mission established by Father Serra and was headquarters of the missions. Lovely courtyard as well and is the only mission with the original bell tower dome. Note the original mission was in Monterey (which is not counted in the list of 21 missions but you can still see the church in Monterey) but later moved to Carmel.
