Great staff, not-so-good facilities.

The photo of the front of the hotel is deceptive. It looks decent from the street, but is pretty much a dump inside. There were ugly stains on the outside carpeting leading up to the room, and in general the place looks rundown.
The manager and staff are really, REALLY great, though. I had a problem with the cabbie coming to the hotel, and the manager handled this situation with understanding and tact, and it was (and is) GREATLY appreciated! A kinder, more friendly manager I have never met, and the staff were all very nice. I would have left if he hadn't been so wonderful, because the room smelled of cheap cleaning chemicals, and while it WAS clean, it was not what I expected from a chain or franchise.
Would I stay here again? I really don't know. There needs to be some major upgrading of the facilities. I couldn't get the TV to work, the coffee percolator leaked, so I couldn't make coffee in the room, and the window wouldn't open and I had to ask for them to come and open it. The furniture is terribly worn, and a real "turn-off." Shame on EconoLodge for charging to stay in a room with such garbage! I wouldn't donate the stuff to the Goodwill! Do you seriously expect people to come back when the place looks like something that should be torn down?
