I was surprised when my room wasn’t serviced after my first night. Was told this is hotel policy although I had no knowledge of that. I needed replacement coffee pods and fresh towels. There was little space to hang wet towels.

Marjorie, According to Hiltons housekeeping standards, we provide room cleaning services every other day. However, if you ask for room cleaning during your stay we will gladly come in and service your room. I did see your stay was for 2 nights and there was no request was made. The Hampton Inn is very comfortable . There was a large variety and options for breakfast. It is convenient to downtown, the Boardwalk, and the campus at UCSC.

The hotel is in excellent condition and is very conveniently located to all the nearby attractions. The staff is very friendly and helpful. My only concern were the homeless people who were occasionally hanging out in the back parking lot.

We chose this hotel since it was close to downtown and the boardwalk and although the property itself was ok, there were a lot of homeless people (unfortunately) hanging around in the parking lot. I have kids and felt somewhat unsafe going out to the car and around the premise. The staff was wonderful (esp Jordan at the front desk) who welcomed us and was very friendly and helpful. The pool was extremely small (an oversized Jacuzzi really) so that was disappointing. Breakfast was great with a lot of options! So good and bad but I do not think we would return.

It is true that Santa Cruz does have a noticeable homeless population, though we work with the city of Santa Cruz, our neighbors, the Santa Cruz Police Department, and contract with a security company to keep our property and neighborhood safe for residents and guests. Again, we are sorry to read that this will be your final impression on us and that you felt such a way!

Cloudy pool, ants in room, hairs on floor & in tub upon checking into the room, gunshots first night somewhere VERY close by, many homeless people around premises begging for food, money, or entry to property to use facilities/bathroom, and mini fridge was either freezing items or making them room temperature; there was no happy medium.
