Pros: The facilities were excellent and the laundry was cheap.

The reason for not recommending is that Monterey is a very beautiful town right on the sea, unfortunately this hotel is too far out and not within walking distance. despite the excellent hotel and its facilities I would recommend somewhere in town where you can walk to the pier or beach.

Location: Had to drive to downtown spots- Cannery Row, Fisherman's Wharf etc.
Hotel close to highway, but had to drive to spots in town.

We were in room #100 which is located next to the front lobby and people were up late partying in the bar until 2:30am! We had to call the front desk twice and did not get any sleep whatsoever that night. We checked-in early that day and were put in a handicap room. The shower was inoperable and it was not a good experience. The hotel was booked through Expedia and Hilton would not allow me to place the room on my Hilton awards card either which I did not think was fair. We wanted two queen beds which was not available through Hilton so we had no choice but to book through Expedia. Overall, very bad experience and would not stay there again.

Average hotel, not so friendly staff over priced

I used Hilton garden inn a lot but won't recommend this one. We arrived at the hotel at 3:20 pm and trying to checkin. The staff told me no room availiable and came back in 45 minutes. Siously? It's the first hotel I couldn't check in after 3 pm. Is that because I booked it throught Expedia and not through hotel? The room is average and facilities is average.

Not what I expected for being a Hilton

Pros: The beds were comfortable enough.
Cons: The disposition of the staff. The corridors are very long...put the ice machine closer...
Location: Fairly close to downtown Monterey and the freeway, overall nice and convienent location.
Staff was rude when I checked in. Had to pay for parking , was told to park out back...guess I needed to pay for an upgraded suite to be able to park in the GARAGE parking. The toilet in my room had been previously used not flushed and left with the lid down for a nice surprise when I checked in.Signs for an ice machine were posted clearly in the hall..too bad I couldnt find one any where remotely close to my room. Could have stayed at a motel 6 and would have never been able to tell the difference.

The hotel's quality compared to other hiltons is below its standards. The price we paid for one night should provide you with proper glasses & cups not paper cups which are not helping the environment also. Very tight space. Showers clogged up. & in the lobby along with coffee some light breakfast stuff. The customers feel welcomed. Most hotels are providing these days. FYI!
