Nice hotel, very close to the beach

It was a great stay. Hotel staff is friendly and service was great ! This hotel is not far from the beach and closest beautiful cities like Monterey and Carmel.

Location: It's a little to far from Monterey if that's were your going to be hanging out.
Hairs in the sink. Elevators didn't work. Hot tub closed to early. Beds we're ok at best.

Pros: location, cleanness, quietness, free parking, free breakfast
Cons: Air conditioner is too old; it generates loud noise when it is on.
I have been searching for the best hotel to suite my budget and at the same time meet my comfort and cleanness level. After reading lots of reviews different hotels, I finally decided to pick Holiday Inn Express Hotel, as it's not too far from Aquarium. I am glad I did, as my family all have good feelings toward this hotel after our stay in for just one night. The room size is good for our family. The bed tends to be a bit soft to me, but at least I could fall into sleep at night. I like the cleanness of the beds and also the bathroom. It provides a small refrigerator and a microwave, but we did not have a chance to use them. One down thing is, the air-con is too loud when it turns on, very disturbing my sleeping. I am glad we went in May, while the weather is perfect without the air-con. So we decided to turn it off for the night. We were assigned the 1st floor unit close to the main street, and it's still very quiet at night (which I like). Free parking and breakfast. One thing I need to mention, after I came back from the trip, I realized Holiday Inn charged me more than the receipt I had on hand. I did call the hotel and being informed that the amount would be updated in 3-5 business days. Then I waited for two more days and checked my credit card payments online. It does show the correct amount which matches with my receipt. I just don't understand why hotel charges me more before hand.

Bed was like a trampoline and not very comfortable. Pillows seemed very worn and the ones labeled FIRM were anything but. The TV remote was old and needed to be replaced. I had a hard time changing channels. And like most hotels they used dim light bulbs so the room seemed very dark all the time. But the room was large (unlike another HIExpress I stayed in earlier in the week) and the breakfast was the standard HIExpress breakfast. Could have used some other types of tea bags at breakfast other than herbal tea. Not everyone drinks coffee!
