Different in a good way!

A European hotel transplanted into US. Formal breakfast is superb, with fresh quality ingredients and, refreshingly, zero disposable plates/packaging etc. Clearly the hotel cares about standards, and does things its own way. Our room was quite small and lacked the usual coffee making etc, but who wants to sit in the room when you are in Monterey? There is a fantastic rooftop bar & terrace which is well used.
This hotel would not suit everybody (e.g. with a taste for decaf coffee!) but it did suit us and would stay again.
