A great place to stay

Pros: Location, ambience, service, and price.
Cons: A little more attention to upkeep.
Location: It's less than a mile from Fisherman's Wharf. Lots to do in Monterey.
This hotel is cool and funky. The refurbishment 9 years ago is a bit frayed, but the place is interesting and unique. The roof top lounge has a view of the bay, food, and fire pits. The complimentary breakfast was the best ever, served to us in the classiest way. If you want perfection, spend twice the money and get less.

Nice hotel with homely feel

Pros: The size of the room and breakfast.
Cons: The elevator, expect to walk your bags up/down the stairs.
Location: A long walk or short drive from Fisherman's Wharf or Cannery Row, but close to the beach.
Traveling in January, I booked the cheapest possible room and was instead given a much, much larger one, which I appreciated. The two course, cooked breakfast was unexpected and pleasant. Overall, it was a great experience and worth the cost.

Good location for quiet escape near beach. Great included breakfast. Roof top terrace was added bonus to enjoy evening sunset drinks.

Our stay started with no onsite parking so you are forced to venture into the random local street parking and an extremely busy front street to access the property. Flicking light in the bathroom on all night along with heavy traffic noise and early leave (6am) prior to any staff on duty so we had to feel responsible for leaving the front door unlocked as we left. Would be a smart idea to have a key drop so guests can re-lock the door upon departure and not worry about the leaving the property exposed to unwanted entries.

Better than it may seem

Pros: Quiet, comfortable, good service, good food, location, private.
Location: Museums, shopping, sightseeing
I booked this last minute as an extension of our stay in the area. The location and the outside appearance doesn't match what's inside. Good service from the staff, nicely decorated, private. We got one of the top floor rooms that have a partial view of the ocean, and it was nicely decorated and had a jacuzzi, a massage shower, and a very comfortable bed. The roof has a nicer view with chairs and service. Breakfast was slow but much better than most other hotels. Just minutes away from the warf and the aquarium.

Overall Nice Hotel - Would Recommend

We had a great stay at this hotel. The only drawback was the size of the room and street parking. Other than that, it was fantastic. The staff were very attentive and nice, the breakfast that was included was delicious and far exceeded the typical continental style breakfast you might get elsewhere, and the rooftop bar had beautiful views and was well tended. The in-floor heating in the bathroom was a bonus too. Overall, a great hotel. We will probably stay there again when we travel to Monterey.

Exceptionally rude clerk

We ended up not actually staying at the hotel, due to the incredible rudeness of the desk agent. I received an email after booking asking to call if we would arrive after 10pm. We were, so I called, and was very succinctly told that they lock the door at 10. I asked if we could still be let in, or call to be let in, upon which it was restated that they lock the door. No other option was given, and it was firmly implied that if we did not arrive before 10 (which was impossible), that we were out of luck. I called hotels.com, who were fantastic, and they tried handling the resolution but were unable to do so, since the hotel refused to refund me for the room I would be unable to stay at due to their 10PM check in cutoff. If the clerk had been less rude, I might have been tempted to reschedule, but as it is, it was the single most horrendous example of customer service I've ever experienced with hotels.

A good surprise!

Real porcelain and proper cutlery at breakfast, freshly cooked recipes that varied each morning. Nothing was too much trouble. The roof top bar and restaurant (views over ocean) open in the evening with free drink made the stay (try the BBQ lamb chops!) rooms well decorated and lovely bathroom. Walkable to all of Monterey and free parking on street. Why so cheap? This is one block back from the ocean on a busy road but that did not matter to us at all (we were on the 1st floor and higher would be even better).

Cute hotel.

Cute lil hotel. More of a bed and breakfast. Ocean view is not worth the extra money but the shower and tub were nice. Friendly staff and close to beach and cannery row. Rooftop was very nice - will be back just to have drinks there.

Had a greaaaaat time at Hotel 1110

Had a great time (usually stay at the another, double the price, Hotel by the wharf) but decided to try Hotel 1110. We loved the included daily breakfast, nutritional and very tasty! And the Bar on the 4th floor was adorable (we sat by the fire pit our last night there). The magnifying mirror in our room was broken but other than that it was a good nights sleep and all that we needed just for sleep. We hike daily and spend lots of time at the ocean during the day. Thumbs up... we'll be back.
