The Highlands Inn is located in a spectacularly beautiful setting with breathtaking views. Sadly guest rooms are circa the 1960s, sparse, and not well appointed. The upholstered chairs in our room were worn and not clean. Housekeeping services made the bed daily but didn’t replenish water, drinking glasses or coffee supplies without us asking. If not for the views would not stay here again.

Five star views - 2 star everything else. Mostly time share owners was weird to stay in the “hotel” - we were put 3 floors down a hill so the views were not much from our room and the staff seemed annoyed with having to help us find our room (6 flights of stairs down) Restaurant was closed - the “lounge” was open for small bites ($26 hamburgers) - hiked up to the fire pits for a better view and the staff were unable to get the fire going. A time share guest got a fire going for us eventually. The pull out sofa is moldy and the bathroom is tiny and outdated. I’d recommend skipping a stay here - save your money and stay in Carmel. Overall disappointing.

The views are amazing. The hotel is dated, the roof caved in outside my room minutes after I stepped in the room and I had to change rooms, the hotel is highly priced for what they offer.

This property did not disappoint. We had an ocean view and it was truly spectacular. Drinks in the sunny lobby were just amazing, and the wait staff was so friendly. The room we had was a bit of a splurge, but completely worth it. The view and the luxury of it all will be a memory forever. TY!

The power was out for 2 days before we arrived, yet the staff failed to let me know. I try raveled to the hotel only to learn this. I asked for a refund and was promised one. It wasted 2 hours of travel time and cost me 700 dollars that were not refunded to me.

This property is in a beautiful area and the grounds are very nice. The rooms are in desperate need of updating. TV service is only basic cable or orchard movies for 20.00 or more each. The restaurant is closed a couple days so it forces you to eat from their extremely minimal bar menu or drive to eat somewhere. No room service.

Parking a bit inconvenient for older customers. Our parking was several flights of stairs above our suite, then 50 yards up a fairly steep hill. That becomes uncomfortable and hazardous to older folks. No closer parking option is available. The restaurant is VERY expensive even for Hyatt, suspect this is because it is in Carmel. The electric fireplace frequently popped its breaker. Very windy under the door in the suite, which required us to put a towel across the crack in the bottom of the door - something you don't expect in a $500 per night room. The thermostat is difficult to understand, room cold most of the time.
