Great location right on the sands

Pros: Location, location, location
Cons: very old hotel.
Location: 10 minutes drive to cannery row.
Hotel has great location on the beach. Very enjoyable experience. Although I did not use it, hotel has heated swimming pool. You can sit on the front porch and watch crashing waves while sipping your wine in front of the fire pit. I could definitely spend a few more days. It's an old hotel and rooms have no balcony. If you leave blinds open people who walk by can see inside your room.

Loved hearing the waves crashing all night long.

Pros: Heated pool & hot tub. Being close to it. Beds & chairs were comfortable.
Cons: Wish curtains could come up from bottom for more privacy while still see view. Windows steams over ever am.
Location: Our room had a great view of Monterey peninsula, cannery row & aquarium across the bay. Really pretty @ night all lite up.
We changed rooms from garden to ocean side & changed our entire experience. Lots of employees constantly picking up & very helpful. Pool was heated & hot tub was well maintain each am. Loved the hot tub each morning. Full of happy children all day & evening. Room well insulated & little noise from side or above. Would love to return if in the area again.

Pros: The staff is wonderful THANK YOU!!!
Cons: Our remote did not work very well, but we managed.
Location: My husband rides a mountain bike and loves the areas he can ride.
We enjoy Tides Hotel for special get aways. We had an issue with our key cards, after much grumbling to ourselves mostly... the front desk sent maintenance to check it.....of course it was not the key cards it was us, learn something new everyday. The restaurant is beautiful, staff there are also great.

Dog Friendly, Former Best Western

Pros: Location, Views from the Restaurant and Lobby, Dog-Friendliness, Reasonable Price
Cons: Windows that open in the rooms, fire pits in front of every section of the hotel, not just two of them
Location: Quick drive to Fisherman's Wharf (Sapporo Sushi was great,) and Cannery Row/the Aquarium.
My husband and I stayed here over the long Thanksgiving weekend. When we first arrived late Wednesday night, we checked in pretty quickly. The room was a little smaller than I'd pictured, but the room seemed recently updated and had a coffee pot with starbucks coffee provided, which is much needed in the morning! We had an oceanfront room, and it was on the first floor so while you could see the ocean, you can't see the beach/waves because of the cement barrier that is up. Also, the windows don't open up (not that we would have anyway, it was very cold, but in the summer months that would've been nice.) A con to being on the first floor was also that we couldn't really leave our curtains open unless we wanted to make eye contact with everyone who walked by, haha. So next time we'll probably spring for something on a higher floor, for sure. Overall, the room was great considering it's reasonable price, the lounge/restaurant/bar area all have great views and seem updated, and it's a quick drive to everything you'd want to see in Monterey proper. And, for anyone who cares, we had a pokestop we could reach form our room, so that was nice!

Very stinky and outdated

It really should be advised as a motel. Small room, smells like a smoking room(with a no smoking sign on the door).

Beautiful oceanfront room. Fell asleep to the waves crashing. Very clean. The only disappointing feature was the tiny refrigerator and lack of a microwave to store and reheat leftovers from the hotels delicious cuisine.

THE MAGNIFICENT VIEW AND WAVES SO RELAXING

Pros: the beautiful view ,the staff excellent. so efficient and fun to be around especially Sam and Maria in the lounge
Cons: updates nice at a glance but shoddily finished. roomservice slow and for over a day did not pick up dirty dishes.. service trays smelled like dirty dishwater[sour]
Location: we love Monterey and surroundings. this hotel has been a family destination for over 30 yrs. we will be back
