Location: Great location on the beach, which is rare for Monterey. Close enough to town to enable easy access to all Monterey/Carmel has to offer
Clean room with some great sound to sleep by, the breaking of the waves, that is. From the outside looks like an old, funky California beach hotel, but the inside was nicely done and clean. Stayed there for the Monterey Car Week activities and it was close enough to everything while offering a slightly removed sense of peace being right on a beach all by itself.

Great beachfront location

Right on the beach. Great views, coastal experience. Expected more for the $$$. Patio seating area was not clean. Fire pits were never lit. Furniture was not comfortable. Wish they provided beach bonfire or seating on beach for guest and Free coffee/tea/water. Lost some charm from previous visits. Still recommend for views and beach access, pool and pet friendly.

Remodeled 50s hotel

Not worth the money, unless you really want to be on the water. Rooms are postage stamp sized and while they are remodeled, they are not anything special.

Cons: Serve complimentary coffee and danish in the morning.
yOU'D THINK THAT AFTER SPENDING $350 / NIGHT THAT THEY WOULD SERVE COMPLIMENTARY COFFEE IN THE MORNING .iNSTEAD THEY CHARGED $3 PER CUP!

The rooms were recently renovated, the beds were comfortable, and the rooms relatively spacious. The commons areas were large and well furnished. This is an excellent hotel for those who love being right on the beach, but are not concerned about the availability of convenient restaurants. It worked for us.

Albergo sul mare

Pros: La posizione e la vista. Anche il letto comodo e la stanza funzionale
Cons: Ristorante: caro, lento e non eccelso.
Location: Poca distanza da Monterey, vale la pena di prendere l'albergo fuori dal paese per stare tranquilli e avere l'extra relax in spiaggia o sulle sdraio.
Ottimo posto da relax dopo Los Angeles. Camere con vista mare molto carine durante il giorno. Di notte si sente forte il rombo della risacca. Relativamente poca privacy perché c'è il passaggio delle persone davanti alla camera, compensata dalla vista sulla baia di Monterey.

Not as nice as advertised

The outside is really beat up. Paint chipping. Old building. The rooms are smaller than pictured and not as nice. At night the only lights in the room are harsh.

Not up to joie de vivre standards.

Room was the size of a college dorm room. I had to straddle the toilet to close the bathroom door. Came back Saturday at 4:30pm and housekeeping had still not made it into the room. When they showed up, we went to the lobby to hang out and were told we couldn't sit in the chairs in the lobby because they were considered part of the dining room. The hotel is right on the ocean, good view, if you don't mind it also being the only walkway for the hotel floor.

Never again

After booking and paying for our room two months in advance. We where arriving a day late. I called and let them know of our situation. When we arrive the following day. They informed us that we are a no show and that they gave away our room. I would understand that, but the fact that we called the day before and they told us that it would not be a problem. The biggest issues is that they were so rude about it. I WILL NEV ER BOOK WITH THEM AGAIN.
