This is our favorite place to stay whenever we come to Monterey. We find the staff courteous and the hotel very pleasant & conveniently located.

The room we had was nice. There are no mini fridges or microwaves in any of the rooms. The staff is very friendly and helpful. However, this is not a handicap friendly hotel. Unless you can walk down a very steep flight of stairs to check in or if you have someone else who can check in for you, then you will not be able to stay here. The layout of the hotel clerks desk is kind of in a weird place. There is no parking lot available, only limited street parking. The mattress in our room was the most comfortable mattress both my husband and I have EVER slept on! It was just incredible! The hotel advertised as having breakfast, but there was only coffee and granola bars, nothing else during our 3 night stay. The shower was huge but the water pressure was very low-flow. Keep in mind that this is an extremely old historic building. The view from our window was of the other guests window ha ha. For the price I guess it’s not bad considering it’s in a great area and walking distance to tons of restaurants and clubs. If you are checking in on a Tuesday please keep in mind that the entire street in front of the lobby is closed off for a type of street fair, EVERY Tuesday. Also, there is NO air conditioner or heating in any of their rooms. They do provide portable little heaters and fans. It was freezing outside during our stay but our room temperature was absolutely perfect without having to turn on the little heater. Would I stay again? Probably not.

Paid extra for a “delux” room for the fireplace which didn’t work. Maintenance never followed up after calling front desk. Terrible street noise because windows weren’t properly sealed. Check in confirmed for 3pm and it wasn’t ready after a long drive

Cute property and very walkable area. The furniture and style in the rooms was fun and very period-inspired, but so are the walls and windows so it was very loud in the room with traffic and bird noise.

When they said historical, they meant it. Chipping paint old carpet with stains. Very noisy & a window was slightly open. We believe it was due to an odor. We couldn’t figure out where it was coming from. Unfortunately, it was my mistake. I thought I had reservations for the Monterey Hotel Plaza & spa. I’ll be more careful next time. We do not recommend this property.

Excellent place to stay nearby literally everything! I will definitelybe back! My only complaint is the spa is "private", wirh no time limit. It can fit more than 2 or 3 people. I feel it should be based on a maximum number allowed and not just one guest at a time

Property was very charming and located amongst a number of cool restaurants. Parking was relatively simple on a Monday night but can definitely get hectic during certain hours. Room was clean and staff was friendly. Would stay here again if in the area.

Staff was friendly and informative. For a hotel that is 120 years old it seems to have aged well. The only thing I would of liked is a grab bar to help step into the deep tub. We are seniors and little things like that would be appreciated.

This is a historic hotel from the early 1900s. It’s a very beautiful place. As long as you are not expecting a modern vibe you will be pleased. I intend to go back someday. I enjoyed my stay.
