Excellent for the reserve at Montiverde but.....

Posted Apr 24, 2017
We stayed in the older building (main Chalet style building) and thought the rooms were a little dark and ?damp e.g. bedding when she got into them. This may have been simply because of the humidity! From looking at the new rooms set in the gardens they were of a ne'er/higher spec and much brighter (bigger windows & views so are probably preferable.

Large rooms with great view of canopy

Posted Apr 10, 2017
Pros: Very large and clean rooms with separate enclosed sitting area to enjoy great view of canopy. . Convenient CR breakfast included good quality.
Cons: The 2 chairs in sitting area are large, cumbersome and, well a bit uncomfortable. Also the 2 chairs make it difficult for larger parties to socializ
Location: Closes to Monteverde, I prefer Selvatura about 5K away. Also within 3k Cafe Cabure good call for lunch/dinner; Tramonti stay with pizza and Stella
Large clean rooms, stayed in 26/27, with wood floors and great view of canopy. Enclosed sitting area with expansive windows protects you from wind while enjoying the best of nature. Convenient morning breakfast of good quality. Staff pleasant and helpful. Close to 3 places to eat: Cafe Cabure, highly recommend, Stella's and Tramonti. Overall, decent location and facilities of above average. FYI beautiful wood floors do allow noise from guest above to be heard, hope for light footed guest. Bedding is comfortable, but a tad heavy. Yet, necessary due to no heating in rooms and nights can get a bit chilly.

Nice hotel but farthest from th Sky Adventures

Posted Mar 22, 2017 on Orbitz
Hotel nice, quiet, sweet but no grounds to speak of at all. No complaints but not a place to spend time. Everyone should know not to drive themselves up this mountain if you don't like extremely rough cliff roads. Tour bus the best way. Driving was horrendous in our economy rental car. Almost ruined the whole trip and sure gave us extreme stress and back pain. Felt like a mountain jungle trail, seriously

Great to be close to Monteverde reserve

Posted Jan 21, 2017
Pros: The room was fantastic. Huge beds in a huge room with wonderful facilities and a lovely inside balcony area with a view over the forest.
Cons: Very cold! The rooms aren't insulated well and when there's poor weather (which there was when we stayed) the hotel can be very cool.
Location: Very close to Monteverde cloud forest reserve and the hummingbird gardens opposite. It's an easy 1km walk to get to both.
The hotel is in a perfect location to walk to Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve and the adjacent hummingbird garden and café. It makes a great base for nature themed activities (we also walked to the nearby Bajo del Tigre reserve) and you can walk all the way into the nearest town, Santa Elena, which is about 5km away, easily for souvenirs and a bit more life (though bear in mind the walk back is all up hill!). When we arrived the power was out because of a fallen tree, and the power stayed off all night as a result. This meant electrically powered water systems (shower, sink etc) didn't work - not great when you've just transferred from a very hot, sticky area - but made for a nice candlelit dinner in the onsite restaurant. Staff were friendly and the food was very good in the restaurant, though rather pricey, though without a car or wanting to hire a taxi there aren't really any other food options out here after dark. The rooms were amazing - huge, super clean, and lovely - though the lack of any heating or insulation meant that when we stayed in a week of gales and rain the place was very cold (they do provide heavy blankets to wrap yourself up in though!).

The hotel was comfortable and the onsite restaurant was excellent. However, the hotel was a ways from anything else.... while it was only a little over a kilometer from town the road was terrible and we certainly didn't want to drive it at night
