Last Choice MotelPosted Aug 8, 2011
I have stayed at this location on a number of occasions in the past. It is a humble location if you just need a place to lay your head for the night, or are hunters with muddy boots, etc. The property is old and run-down, the bathroom has only communion-wafer size soaps and no shampoo, and the staff generally look very seedy (dirty, oily threadbare clothes, etc.) When I am "roughing it" on a hunting trip my expectations aren't very high, and the low price is attractive. However on my last visit to this facility I experienced a new level in dissatisfaction that places this hotel in "last choice". When I arrived in the room I soon perceived a nauseating smell emanating from somewhere in the room. After sniffing around I detected an odor in the bedspread, which smelled like fecal matter and/or wet dog. I also smelled a musty/moldy smell in the bathroom. I brought the bedspread to the office and asked for a clean one. The staff provided a clean one and were initially very apologetic, but then began to argue with me about the moldy smell in the bathroom, claiming I must be imagining it (I had asked for a new shower curtain as this is a frequent culprit). I decided to pick my battles and let it go. Later, I also noted an odor coming from the upholstered room chair. I sprayed the room copiously each night with Febreze. The sheets had some substance on them that made my skin sweat when in contact. The shower drains so slowly I was standing knee-deep by the end.

I'll never go backPosted Jul 14, 2010
Although our over-all experience was acceptable, I chose this motel because it was the best-priced motel in the area that offered internet connections. When we checked in, we weren't given the code to access the internet. We also had no idea how to contact the office, other than re-dressing and walking down there. We got the access code, but after a short period of time, I lost internet connections. We tried again the next day and were told by the manager that he knew nothing about the internet - didn't even know who the internet provider was - and the owners couldn't be reached, as they were in India. We intended to request a discount on our room charge when we checked out, but the manager wasn't there, and the person at the desk said he couldn't do anything, but that the manager had our phone number and would contact us. Didn't happen! We weren't even given a copy of our bill, so I have no idea whether we even received the Expedia discount. I was very disappointed, because had I know about this beforehand, there were several other motels in the area that I would have chosen instead of this one.
