Pros: The location and the brightness of the room
Cons: It would be nice to have ironing service.
A thing to improve it is that the following question is a little embarrassing: "Do you took something from the fridge?", to inmediately, the girl from the reception, do in front of you the same question to the staff room service.

Pros: The staff, the food, the room cleanliness.
Cons: It is a good tourist class hotel, offering value for money accommodation. I can't think of anything to improve it that would not drive up prices.
Location: It is not a pretty area, it's a South America downtown, near to the Bus Terminal. That is its attraction, and the hotel serves that purpose very well
After I'd booked this hotel I read some shockingly bad reports that had been posted about this hotel, and I went there with every intention of walking away, even though it was paid for, if the hotel, and rooms were as bad as I'd read. It WAS NOT bad, it was very good, with my room being clean, and airy, the staff could not have been more helpful, even 'phoning ahead and booking my next hotel for me when I left the following morning. Why would people give a hotel a bad name if it wasn't true ! Beats me, - they may have had a bad experience, but I certainly did not. I'd stay there again without any worry at all. Whilst it isn't 4 star it is good value for money for the traveler.

I spent 4 nights and used it just to sleep. It was a great choice. Good location. Not the best neighborhood but only 5 minutes walking to central station and mall. Easy public transportation for all main places. Excellent breakfast with homemade cooking. Helpful staff and clean room. Not a modern hotel , but great worth for money.

Pros: Staff, location, breakfast.
Cons: Pillows were old foam, sheets were unfitted, blankets polyester; my room had an electronic "air freshener" with a strong scent, I had to turn it off.
Location: Three blocks from the big mall at the Tres Cruces bus terminal; some outdoor restaurants and street vendors near that; quiet residential neighborhood.
Tres Cruces is an old, lower-middle-class residential neighborhood, but it has a workaday charm about it and the hotel is two blocks off of Bulevar Artigas. It's is in a great location for getting around Montevideo and Uruguay generally by bus: you can take the CA1 all over town for less than a buck, or take intercity buses from the terminal nearby. Proximity to the bus terminal also means proximity to the new upscale shopping mall attached to it. The room had some old-seeming fixtures but everything worked and the bed was comfortable. Internet was easy and pretty fast, like everywhere I found in Uruguay. Buffet breakfast included all the fresh OJ you could drink (it was great), plus the usual South American hot milk/ hot strong coffee combo (which I happen to love), and many pastries and meats. But for me the real highlight was the friendly staff, helpful with locating things in the neighborhood, bus routes, etc. Although I stayed there because I had to go to the Catholic University a few blocks away, I felt at home and would stay there again even if my business were in the center or old city.

I've stayed in the Tres Cruces area in Montevideo probably five times. This time I made a mistake while booking and ended up at the very economical Hotel Tres Cruces, which is located about two blocks away from the Tres Cruces Mall. The hotel is not terrible. The rooms are as clean as can be expected for a hotel that has been updated in 30+ years. The staff was very courteous and the complementary breakfast was quite nice. If your looking for an inexpensive hotel in the very centrally located Tres Cruces area of Montevideo, this will do fine. If your taste and budget allow got more, look at the nearby Days Inn or find something downtown.
