Fun in the pool and a good nights sleep.Posted Oct 18, 2015
Pros: The beds were exceedingly comfortable and the pool was great and so was the jacuzzi.
Cons: Damaged carpeting and tables need to be fixed
Location: Great pizza down the street for a reasonable price shopping district was nearby. The hotel was located close to the train station.
Great experience, staff were friendly and helpful while always having a smile on. Beds were super comfy, The cable was a nice treat but had a little static in the bedroom and the rooms were really nice but needed more lighting. Having the card in the slot to turn off and on the lights was a little annoying although energy saving. Overall experience was amazing nice and clean great and comfy.(what brand was the mattress?)

Nice hotel in the center of Montreal, but...Posted Oct 4, 2015
Pros: Spacious room, fast valet parking, Nespresso machine in the room
Cons: see above
Location: Very good location in the center, near shopping and restaurants.
This was my third stay in the Crystal , but unfortunately I would be able to return? Why? I was absolutely unable to connect my VPN on my laptop using their wi-fi. There is just come incompatibility. They sent up a "technician" but he had no clue. So when I needed to read my work e-mails, I had to go to Starbuck where the wi-fi worked perfectly. A few other annoyances: I could not turn up the TV volume enough to hear the news very well....presumably so I not disturb my neighbors. Realistically my room was so large and the TV was far from any other room. One more, the cereal I order at breakfast for $10.00, it was pretty much a "sample size" and I had to order a second helping. No I am not gigantic as I weight 182 lbs. Upon checking out to show the person a small bottle was water I took from the room which was not on the price list....the I pointed out thy were giving them away for free. Result, I was charged $2.99 after checking out on my Amex card. So the little things add up after all.

Pros: Location and room space.
Cons: The price could be improved. The decor is rather dated in the rooms.
Location: Shopping and restaurants are close by
This hotel is just Ok. It does the job, but with construction next door, the windows were dusty and filthy.

Paying a premium for mediocre accommodationsPosted Sep 8, 2015
Pros: Good location, near the key areas of where you want to be in Montreal.
Cons: Service could be improved. Carpets need major cleaning/replacing. Stains & odor were not pleasant, particularly the 1st room we were placed was gross.
Location: Old Montreal, the tours pick you up nearby on Peel and shopping!
Alas, my first pick the Hotel Neligan wasn't available smack dab in Old Montreal. So we went with what we thought would be a very solid alternative. My wife and I had high hopes for the Hotel Le Crystal. In terms of the quality, location and service, we were looking for what we essentially paid for. Quality - Our first night and room was smelly! It stank of must and god knows what else. We requested a new room and while it was an improvement it wasn't much better in terms of dirty carpets and stained sofa. Location - Probably the only good thing about the place is that it's near everything and you can walk anywhere. However, most of the hotels are clustered in that general vicinity. Service - The maid skipped out on cleaning our room! When she did pop by it wasn't cleaned properly and the bed was made half haphazardly. - Service, anytime we called the front desk it was like having an arm wrestling match. For example, when we called the front desk about the maid service, they were arguing with my wife, may be the hotel staff enjoy being defensive to guests paying ~$320 a night? What's done is done, my wife and I hope that others make calculated decisions about picking hotels. Clearly, the rooms were overpriced and Expedia could drop the hotel star rating a notch as it's NOT a 4 star hotel, I'd say Hotel Le Crystal is at best a 3 star and way overpriced, you're better off staying at a major chain Hotel like Marriott or Hilton for half the price and get the location.

Location: It is well located one block from Saint Catherin street and a short walk to the Eaton Center, Metro and underground shopping in the downtown.
The hotel is nearly new and very clean. Even though there is some new construction near the hotel I did not hear anything in my room. The bed is very comfortable with real down duvets and feather beds. Real down filled pillows. A well stocked bar. Nice exercise room, Sauna, Hot Tub, and nice pool.
