Great place, great location for budget travelers

Posted Dec 10, 2017
Pros: The price was very good for the location. The hotel, simple and 1950's stylish, was very clean and efficiently run. Parking area was a plus for me.
Cons: Nothing. It delivered quality at the right price
Location: The area, although a bit run down is very close to the old Montreal district, the St. Lawrence river and shopping along along the Rene Levesque Avenue
The hotel delivered all it promised to be. All worked out and was clean as it should be. Had no issues with noise and staff was very pleasant and efficient. The people I interacted with were fluent in English and, of course, French. The location is within a short walking distance from the old Montreal district with its architecture, art and restaurants. The immediate surrounding area is not touristic. It is behind a university building and a rundown area. However, I did not see anything that would make me feel unsafe and it is a transforming area. The abandonment before the modernization. Lot of construction in the area. Over all. when I come back to Montreal, I will consider this hotel to stay.

Conveniently located

Coffee maker out of order in room. Staff wasn’t helpful and did not provide a solution or at the very least to give us coffees. It’s in the smallest details in servicing guests that a small hotel maintains or loses its good reputation.

Very Nice - Downtown Montreal Hotel

Posted Dec 9, 2017
My stay was very good at hotel st.denis ! The room was very clean, and the cleaning staff ensured it stayed that way while I was away from my room. There isn't much to complain about here , the place overall is very professional ; smells new and is well kept(hallways and room). One downside would be the water pressure in the shower. The pressure seemed a tad weak, and made the shower a tad Longer. Very minor complaint, excellent stay - would stay again! Would recommend to a friend.

Treated terribly by Manager Catherine

Posted Nov 27, 2017
Pros: location
Cons: customer service
Location: shopping, eating, sight seeing. old port, peel street in walking distance.
We stayed 3 nights, traveling with husband, 7 year old & both in laws. We were in town to visit my 82yr old father in-laws siblings. We chose this hotel due to past stays, convenient location and price. The second night our 7 yr old got very sick and on her way to bathroom vomited on the bottom of the comforter. During taking care of her, cleaning the bathroom & room floor I folded the blanket up & placed it outside of our door. (last room in hallway inlaws across the hall) Planning on calling the desk to make them aware but our child being my primary concern, being distracted by her & everything going on, I soon forgot. I received a call from Catherine the manager yelling at me about how disgusting the blanket was & how I should have called. She told me that another guest complained about us partying all night. I told her I was sorry & explained it was our child who was sick & we think it was from juice boxes purchased at the local market. She continued to yell at me saying it was disgusting & was very rude. On our way out to visit family, I stopped to chat with her & she began again, yelling at me, telling me what I did was weird and how she never experienced that situation in her 17 yrs working. Also, that I should go talk to the VERY OLD, very unhappy, neighbors who complained about us. She mentioned that she was yelled at for our hour because of what I did. We travel quite a bit at least 3 trips/yr & I have never been treated this way before. Embarrassed & Insulted.

Treated terribly by Catherine the Manager

Posted Nov 27, 2017
Pros: Location & memories, my husband proposed to me here. we used to stay often for Grand Prixe. The basement has a pool table and our family enjoyed this.
Cons: Customer Service. Yelling at a guest and assuming vomit = partying is completely unacceptable! She never apologized for her behavior.
Location: Metro 1 block, lots of restaurants on St. Denis, can walk to Peel St & Old Montreal. -Stay clear of St. Catherine Street after dark.

Overall very pleasant experience. Green bath and paper products a nice touch, but perfect score on facilities remains out of touch due to lack of any breakfast appliances or offerings. Staff were consciously unobtrusive and pleasant to deal with, especially given multilingual landscape.

Great location, well-maintained rooms, and comfy bed. The shower's water pressure was a bit weak.

The reviews were right!

Location: The location is not in the swankiest part of town but I never felt uneasy, There were two good restaurants right next door, and easy walking to others
I was more than pleased with this little gem of a hotel. The proximity to the bus station was great, especially since one of us had to catch the 747 shuttle to the airport. The rooms were quiet and very clean.
