Lovely hotel within walking distance of Notre Dame

Posted Jun 4, 2017
We were celebrating our 40th Wedding Anniversary and Montreal was one of our destinations...beautiful city, Notre-Dame Basilica was breath taking, loved the Underground City and the Complexe Desjardins, just to name a few..our hotel was within walking distance of it all (we averaged about 5-6 miles per day)....so looking forward to our next trip to Montreal

A hotel in decline

Posted May 30, 2017
Pros: Great location. easy walk to shopping, dining and other tourist spots
Cons: Customer service, room condition. - See above
Location: Right in between the Latin Quarter and Gay Village. A short walk to old Montreal and the Underground.
This is a hotel in decline. When we arrived, they could not find our reservation and told us there were no rooms. After an hour, the manager finally went into the Expedia site and found our itinerary. We were then put in a room that obviously needed to be taken out of service for repairs. It was not a city view, which we paid for, and was not a king bed. When we brought this to the attention of the management, they simply said we could go elsewhere. Repair issues: 1. Blackout curtains dirty and torn 2. Shower curtain dirty and torn 3. Cracks in bathroom vanity filled with tissue paper 4. Bathroom door damaged 5. Dresser badly damaged.

Do you realy want to know ? Well our first day March 22 2017 we had to change room because of mold and the ceiling was falling down in the washroom .The second room they gave us ,there was mold again in the washroom and the Tub did not drain (my youngest fell down because of that and had a very big bruise on his nose),no heat in the room, no one change the bedding in 3days,no change of towels (very hard to dry you body with wet towels) rug very dirty .Ice machine did not work on our floor 10th. Pop Machine on the 9 floor was full of rice .I had to contact the front desk three time in order to get out of the underground parking ( they had no idea how it worked . And I found out the the hotel employee were on strike for the pass 3 months and no one told me odour it so the was 15 nonunion people doing the work of 135 employee ..no one told us about the strik .I call Hotel.com and the told me it's not their duty to tell me about the employee strike at the hotel ....the hotel told me because I booked with hotel.com they could not help me .my stay should have been 50% off but no I had to pay 430$ for very little service .I will not recommend this hotel .my sister in law is a travel agent and word gets around very fast .I will make sure that Hotel.com does not get recommend cause I should have gotten a email saying the service might not be at 100% cause of the 3months strike then I could have made my dicision if I wanted to book there or not 430$ is a lot of money.i them I was suing

Decent hotel with disappointing service.

Posted Mar 21, 2017 on Orbitz
Pros: Not very much.
Cons: Almost everything.
Having stayed at this hotel several times before, I was looking forward to a nice stay for 5 nights. Unfortunately, the hotel staff was largely diminished because of a job action, and the service was not up to par. There was no regular housekeeping; the restaurant was only open for the buffet breakfast; and there was no concierge. My room was only cleaned and the bedding changed once during my stay. One of my two room phones did not work, and there was a terrible noise all night due to the room's proximity to the elevators. I would not recommend a stay at this property until the work stoppage is over.

Horrible.. hotel was dirty and staff was rude! Staff was on union strike so rooms were not cleaned over our stay nor were they clean when we arrived. We were not notified of the strike before arrival. TV did not work.

OK stay

We got a free upgrade and were at the 29th floor, nice view. We understand that the hotel cannot offer full service now because of a lock-out.

Labour strike = nasty surprise

Posted Feb 27, 2017 on Hotels
The first impression was a front entrance blocked by a dozen picketing employees on strike. After walking through picketers, the sliding door was turned off and opened manually by a security guard. Because of the labour strike, we had to wait 1.5 hours for our room. The front desk was unapologetic, indifferent and did nothing to assist. They simply handed us a copy of a letter from the General Manager (see attached). Finally, because of the strike there was no restuarant, food service or bar, other than breakfast. Hotels.com did not disclose this labour issue at the time of booking, nor after the booking or on the reminder email. Would NOT have booked this hotel had it been communicated. Self parking was available for $21...but only if your car was less than 70". So no parking for any SUV, minvan or pickup. Had to find offsite parking for more money, and walk back in the pouring rain. Again, not communicated by the hotel or Hotels.com. Finally, the decor, fixtures, signage, furniture is '80s vintage - looked it and smelled like it. Not a 3.5 star in 2017.
