Golf-Hotel Rene Capt

Posted Jun 3, 2017
Pros: Location, lake-view room, staff, breakfast
Cons: Air-condition the rooms
Location: Within a mile or so of the Chillon Castle (which is worth a visit) and a short walk to shopping and a great variety of restaurants.
Stayed four nights at the hotel and enjoyed them all. We had a lake-view room on the top floor. The view was just beautiful to wake to and lovely in the twilight, too. Actually, it was an amazing sight at any time of day, and we enjoyed it immensely. The room was comfortable, the breakfast extensive and delicious. Everyone we dealt with was exceedingly kind and knowledgeable and tended to our every need efficiently. The hotel overlooks the promenade that runs for miles and is a true joy to stroll. Our one downside was the lack of air-conditioning in the room. Fortunately, the weather was nice and not too warm while we there, and there was often a small breeze through the open balcony doors, but a couple of nights were a bit uncomfortable for sleeping. Other than that, though, paradise throughout. The hotel doesn't use electronic keys for the rooms, so be ready to handle a manual key attached to a large plastic pad, and the elevator doesn't open the door automatically when you reach your floor, so you need to be aware that you will be providing that function when getting on or off. Actually, both features took us back in time, and we found them romantic, in a way.

Hotel with great view of lake and friendly staff

Posted May 28, 2017
Friendly staff. We got misled by google map, which showed us a route to the back of the hotel and a staff working in the garden saw us and proactively told us how to get to the reception area. The view of the room was magnificient, with a balcony facing the lake and you also get a panoramic view of Montreux.

Great view

Hotel right on the waterfront , amazing view!, Hotel grounds are beautiful, rooms need upgrading , very old and dated, feels stuffy. No fitness facility, very close though to shops and restaurants. Parking is limited , public transportation is really good. Outdoor patio is great for drinks and a bite to eat .

Pros: the location

i love old fashion hotels but this hotel is a complete mixture of old and new styles not put together in a very chaotic and not appealing way.

The reception service was excellent. The location is very slightly outside the centre of town however it is perfect.

Good place but too close to railroad. Do not expect to have a good night sleep with the windows open
