READ BEFORE YOU BOOK! First check in. Odd not very warm greeting no “congrats on your honeymoon” nothing of the short. Guy walked us to our room showed us were to enter the room key to turn on the lights and AC then left. Room was dirty with dirty linens, stained towels. A giant cockroach crawling around and what I assume was a gecko’s poop on my pillow. Spider’s webs in every corner. Tiny bugs everywhere. I get it I am on an island but the reason for so many bugs was clearly from not cleaning and the half an inch gap in the sliding glass window that needs replacement. We paid for the beach and waterfront room. There was local teens playing music and swimming in front of our room daily. Literally right in front of us on the hotel grounds. The hotel did nothing to vacate these teens. I am all about kids having fun, but it seriously killed the vibes and provided no privacy at all. The hub caps were stolen on our rental car... When I went to the front desk to inform them the guy smiled and shrugged his shoulders and said sorry. Period. No, I am so sorry let me get the manager blah blah blah. Just sorry bye. It was very very hot the week we stayed. You can only cool the room with the room key. I requested an additional room key so that the room wasn’t a completed furnace when we got back from outing, but the manager said no to this request. Please Please do yourself a favor and book somewhere else. I have so many more things but only allowed 1500 characters!

Dear Mr and Mrs Rama SOOF.Thank you for taking the time to write to us regarding your appreciation of the experiences you had during your stay at the Kaveka hotel.First of all, on behalf of all the staff at Hotel Kaveka, I would like to apologize for not having made a commercial gesture and for not having taken your honeymoon into account upon your arrival at the hotel because our manager on duty had been ill for several weeks and so we were a little lost.However, there are several details and comments that I would like to clarify, for example firstly you can visit our website to appreciate that our reception is very well rated and the comments in general are of high quality in all the services and especially the welcome and the efficiency of employees is rated 'very good'.Second point - the bungalows are cleaned from top to bottom and subsequently checked by a manager before each guest arrives.However, we are currently in the rainy season, and as you say, we are on a tropical paradise island.nonetheless - during these seasons (very rainy), insects of all kinds come out everywhere and invade the bungalows. Whether you are in a hotel, five stars, four stars, three stars, two stars or no star, it is inevitable, there will be insects.You have booked a beach bungalow. However, this does not give you the right to have a private beach, our beach is reserved for all hotel resident guests.Third - we have surveillance and security cameras throughout the property and precisely after checking those covering the parking lot, we found that the hubcaps of your rental car which you insinuate were stolen on the premises is not true – they were actually stolen somewhere else but not here at the hotel...Fourth - the hotel's policy is oriented against the effects of pollution and the degradation of nature and rather for the protection of the environment and pollution, and therefore this is why we have installed power breakers in each Bungalow to eliminate all excessive electricity consumption, including air conditioning.In fact, we have high-power air conditioning so that when you enter our Bungalows. In a few moments, the bungalow is cooled without keeping the air conditioning on 24/7 as you want to do..To summarize the situation a little, the fact that we did not take into account this exceptional event of celebrating your honeymoon as soon as you arrived at the hotel, this amplified your dismay, your negativity, especially your entire stay with us .It's really a shame.We are very sorry for this, please excuse us once again.Hoping that next time we will do better.Sincerely.

Highly recommend
This was my second time at Kaveka and we were upgraded on the second day which was wonderful. The bungalow was recently renovated. Clean, roomy with the verandah facing the sea. Service was excellent. My son and granddaughter stayed with me and they made such a fuss of her (aged three) I’ll always be grateful. Sophia in particular went out of her way and needs to be acknowledged. The location is superb. We look forward to returning next year.

Left after first night as they didn't have a pool which we needed (for the kids) and was one of the main reasons we booked it. Front desk and manager was rude, slow and obnoxious in recognizing and handling the issue. Blaming us for it rather than dealing with the fact that they are advertised as with pool on hotels.com. Took 2 days and they still charged us for 2 nights even though we only stayed for 1. Don't go...

The view from the restaurant is gorgeous and the food was pretty good. Staff very friendly but forgot my request for a bike and my safe still didn’t work after 2 requests. No kettle in room and no water provided even though you can’t drink the water at the hotel. Housekeeping not great- forgot to leave clean glasses, hand towels and toilet paper. Bed ok but bathroom very dated

The dock has an amazing view
We stayed two nights at this hotel and really enjoyed our experience. The staff was friendly and super helpful with what to do around the island. I loved having coffee ready early in the morning.

The hotel states they have wifi but it’s only in lobby. And they’re under construction so it’s really loud all day. Lastly, their breakfast is the most ludicrous cost on the entire island. Their shuttles never showed up and their front desk person kept telling me she’d checked it herself and the wifi was working. It never was. Anytime we wanted to call somebody on island for bike rental of jet skiing, we had to walk to lobby. And the chickens wake you up early!!!

This place was peaceful and serene. The room we had was a little small for us and had no patio but we were okay with that because we chose not to upgrade and it was a place to sleep. The grounds were clean and very beautiful however they did have construction on property which was not a problem for us and looked like it was getting more bungalows added. The beach area could have been tended to with maybe removal of some of the seaweed but if you swam far out enough it was not a problem. We opted for hanging out at the end of the pier for swimming and sunbathing. The staff was always smiling with friendly greetings and assisted us with questions we had. The tourism office was next door. Overall if you didn’t want to spend lots of money on the over the water lagoons this was a very nice option. We loved it here.

Unfortunately our bungalow was only recently repainted and a strong pungent odor prevailed giving us a sinus infection. When we informed the evening staff she said they knew of it and apologized. Later the manager said we could NOT get any of empty units because of the type of reservation we had ????? He vaguely said he would ask owner if we could get some credit. But we have not heard anything! Food and service was very good. At approx $300 per night, we are very disappointed.

This property was listed as "lagoon view", but you could not actually see the water from the unit. The walls were so thin that we could hear everything that was going on in the room next to us. Knowing we could hear them meant they could hear everything in our unit as well. The air conditioning could only be run when you were in the room with the key in so we often came back to a very warm room. It is a fine property with a nice beach area and restaurant but over priced for what is provided and the privacy issue for connecting rooms is a big concern.

Oh I miss this place so much, This island is the one of the most beautiful places I've been to. My bungalow was awesome. Right on the water, like roll out of bed and right into the ocean awesome! The staff are so nice and helpful. The snorkeling was one of my favorite things, so many fish and one day a big turtle swam right by me! Anyway, I could go on and on, I had a great experience, book the oceanfront bungalow and you will be happy. Drive around the island, there are some amazing snack shops and so much to do, or not do and relax. Moorea is a very special place and I can't wait to get back there.

STAY AWAY AT ALL COSTS (and the costs are high!) Cockroaches: 3 inches (7.5 cm). As I was sleeping, one crawled on my head and woke me up. When I knocked it off, not knowing what it was, it thought it would share my pillow with me. That was not to be. We had another in our shower. Other bugs in the room: LOTS! Ya, I’m aware of the line “Well this is the tropics and you have to expect this.” Well, no, not to this level. And all our food was stored in the fridge. Safe in the room: The first one didn’t work. They brought another, much smaller one which was unusable because of it’s size. They brought another like the first one. It did not work either. They brought a fourth one. Over an hour was killed as we couldn’t leave the room until this was fixed. Wifi: Almost non-existent. My line speeds via telephone in the late 1990’s were faster for the few times that it did work. Drinking water: Nope! You can’t drink the tap water. When I asked if there was any for the room at the front, they said sure, and produced a bottle. Only when I asked did they tell me there was a charge of $4. It is $1 at the grocery store. It was more that we paid a lot for the hotel and they didn’t supply drinking water. The Beach: On one side of the lobby is a tiny strip of sand. On the second step into the water, my leg sank into the sand most of the way to my knee. I felt like I was in quicksand and it was challenging to break free. There are better beaches elsewhere.

The hotel is dated and could use some modernizing. The maintenance man that takes care of the gardens etc. is amazing. The Wi-Fi service is terrible. The Wi-Fi service is terrible and close to nonexistent. Rooms need a good cleaning to include baseboards windows and window sills. Also before checking in confirm everything works. We had to move rooms due to safe not operational. The rooms as advertised on Expedia are not what you get. There is no porch on lanais. Moorea is a beautiful island but this was not a 200 a night property for our room. They are updating the property and some of the rooms appear to be very nice.

We felt so welcome walking in. Grounds felt natural and the small stone walkway along waters edge was perfect. While eating dinner we were lucky enough to see a shark and a ray cone by. Plus the fish everyday at breakfast. Calm, quiet and peaceful.

The restaurant bathrooms did not have soap or towels, the hand dryer was not working. Our bungalow had so many holes in the window screens that we had mosquitoes in the room at all times, even with the slat windows closed. The property manager arrived on the fourth day of our five- night stay, and had his staff replace the screens, which was helpful. The staff missed one of the screens, so we still had a few mosquitoes in the room. Because of the screens, my daughter had 20-30 mosquito bites at all times, which was very uncomfortable for her.

We loved the location of our bungalow. Right on the beach. The restaurant was excellent for dinner but I believe overpriced for breakfast. The staff was accommodating and very kind and helpful. Especially Sophia. It would be nice to have lower priced bicycle rental and drinking water available. The lights go out when key is removed so the fan doesn't run. A broom would be nice.

Air conditioning didn’t work- receptionist would not let us borrow adapter for plugs stating they didnt have one and rented us bikes to bike 10 min away on a Sunday when everything is closed and when we returned we were charged for the bikes and suddenly she found the chargers and she made us pay for them to use them. High prices for poor room and amenities. Would not recommend

Regarding the two plug adaptors you requested, we do not rent them, but only take a deposit of 500 XPF which we return to you once you return them to reception upon check-out, (HOWEVER YOU REFUSED TO RETURN THEM) hence we retained your deposit. Also we have taken note of the remaining subjects you mentioned and will be addressing these issues at the very earliest

Very quaint property , relaxing atmosphere with friendly staff , the only issue was property is in need of some maintenance and we had ants in our bathroom ..

Very disappointing last night in Moorea.
For people to give a 5 star is ridiculous, the Sofitel, Hilton and Manava are 5 star, this hotel is not better than a 2 at best. The room smelt old, the sheets and towels were very old. discolored and smelt damp/dirty. Restaurant and bar were closed at nite 'just because'. we paid $58US for a continental breakfast which consisted of coffee and a baguette, the fresh fruit was not even ripe - inedible! pouring with rain when we left, the hotel had 1 umbrella to be shared with the staff. Wouldn't go back, wouldn't recommend, there are much nicer small hotels at same cost with lovely beach front cafes with great food. This is a very old hotel and shows its age, needs a major rennovation.

Amazing deal for the beauty and local Vibe!
Hotel Kaveka in Cooks bay is an incredibly beautiful place to stay. The view is astounding! It is a smaller property with a family feel. The staff are very kind, the lunches and dinners are delicious and if you want more of a local feel this is your place. The amenities are lacking a bit and some of the little things could be improved for overall service. There was no outlet in bathroom for styling hair, no beach towels provided, and while they had masks there were no flippers for snorkeling… They went above and beyond to get me on a last minute tour when another was cancelled, but there was no information on what I needed to bring…. That being said I would totally stay there again. The price was great! And I felt very safe there as a solo traveler. Definitely a place for the self sufficient traveler. Not for people looking for extra fluff and high end resort type service.

I have really mixed feelings about the Kaveka. First of all, on the positive side, the hotel is situated right on Cook's Bay and so snorkeling is very easy. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Also, the room was spacious and very clean. Conversely, the condition of the property seems to be on the decline. For my room (#302), the window was not mounted properly and so their was a two to three inch gap between the window frame and the wall. This enabled me to look through the gap directly to the underside of the platform upon which my room sat or to allow bugs and creatures to enter. Second, I thought the food was overpriced. Granted, everything in French Polynesia costs more than what most pay at home. However, $30 for shrimp curry seemed excessive. Also, from my room, I could see the roof of the main building and I could see that "quick and easy" repairs had been made to the roof. This seemed to be consistent of my perception that management may only be doing the basics to keep things going. Last, although I liked the location of my room (beachfront), what I found annoying was the loud and early morning movement of equipment from the storage sheds just across the path from my room. Granted, in the islands, 6;30 am may not be too early for most, but it is early to me. Bottom line is that I really enjoyed the location and the room was clean and spacious. However, the place needs to have a few repairs completed to make it a top notch resort on the island.

The Hotel had a nice restaurant and very helpful staff. The setting was beautiful and convenient for the lunch excursion that we took to see the rays and sharks. We were on the leading edge of the after-covid-restricted tourism wave and understandably some of the amenities were unavailable.
