We were so excited to stay at the Intercontinental Moorea for our honeymoon. We had done extensive research & ended up choosing the intercontinental over the Hilton based on reviews & location.
When we arrived for our 3 night stay, we could immediately tell the hotel was tired. Not a big deal considering but that should have been our first warning sign. There are some places in the front that you can tell they've updated - the bar & restaurant area specifically - but other than that, it just feels tired.
Cons: We had a regular room which was fine but severely outdated - mold on bathroom counter, rooms smell musty & no control of aircon temperature. Not sure how the bungalows are but would recommend a beach front vs over the water - they're much more private & right on the lagoon.
We were extremely disappointed in the Polynesian dinner & dancing - $220 for horrible food, overpriced wine & zero service. Could have gone to the restaurant below, had edible food & still enjoyed the show. Don't waste your money on this - not worth it.
We inquired about jet skis at their nautical shop & the gentlemen was marking up prices right in front of us! Not only was the exchange rate wrong but he tacked on an extra $50 just because - head elsewhere for reasonable & fair prices.
Service just wasn't there. When paying this much money, we expected more & were unimpressed every time.
Pros: The pool area is great & definitely take advantage of the free kayaking & paddle boarding - we saw 2
