Secluded bungalow hotel
Posted Oct 17, 2016
Depending on what you are looking for, this can be a very good hotel. The property is maintained in a more natural state. Meaning, they do not spend a lot of effort to manicure and tend to flower gardens, shrubbery etc.
All accommodations are separate dwellings, thus no connected rooms. Some seem a bit remote, others are on the beach or at least looking at the water. I stayed in an over-water bungalow. It was well appointed and large in size. However, the WIFI is very poor. It drops out constantly and you must sign in again. If you go to the lobby or restaurants, it does work better.
It is quiet property, with most people keeping to themselves. The largest category of customers at the Sofitel is from Italy. You can take that information and make your own decisions about it. There are also a large number of honeymooners that stay there.
Food options are a bit limited. For me, 3 days was long enough. The breakfast is quite good, but dinner choices seemed a bit thin....and expensive. There are no restaurants in the area as there is nothing at all near the hotel. If you want total seclusion, then that is a good thing. Otherwise, you might be better off on the north side of the island at the Hilton. At least then, there are a few other hotels etc to go to.
For me personally, this hotel is very lacking in that they have NO Fitness center. They have plenty of space on the property to install one, they just didn't. In this respect, I would not go back.
