The room had a damp geek when I walked in. It also smelled very musty and like mildew. Upon inspection, the carpet was very worn and was in much need of replacing. I had booked a room with a jetted tub. I was very disappointed to learn the tub wad dirty and broken. The jets were totally inoperable. The bathroom had an old smell of urine even though it appeared to be clean. I had booked the room for two nights but would not stay the second. It was very discouraging to have to take my 5 year old grandson home early from our trip because of this. I don't believe I'll be using expedia or any other online booking site again if they don't check their hotels any better. This is the second time this has happened to me.

Nice hotel near Ft. Macon

Pros: The staff always greeted us with smiles. The manager was very helpful with our complaint.
Cons: carpet needs to be removed; room needs to be checked for mold; eliminate the source of dampness
The room was very musty smelling. We thought at first smokers had previously rented the room. Housekeeping gave us a deodorizing spray which helped. When we returned to the room the scent had returned also. It was better after another spraying.

Hotel staff was nice and overall the hotel is nice. The room could have had better cleaning. Breakfast in the morning was good. Pool would have been nice if the same 2 kids ( probably 10 & 12) weren't constantly in it unattended. Every time my family were at the pool we felt like their babysitters, so we would end up leaving.

Hotel was fine, not too fancy just right for going back in the evening and crashing. Fitness room definitely needs some work, hardly any equipment in there (but it had cobwebs on it so maybe I'm the only one who has ever used it!). Front desk staff is either understaffed or low moral. Every time I went by they were on the phone or away from the desk altogether. Not super friendly either. Continental breakfast was kinda measly, lots of selection if you just want breads/cereals, and I guess they had a waffle bar so it could have been worse. Hotel rooms were very clean and comfortable, no fan in the bathroom which drives me crazy but this isn't the first hotel in Havelock that I have experienced this with. Walking distance from food restaurants and grocery stores, pool was small but very clean and fun. Overall had a blast, would give it a solid B.

New ownership and they're doing things well

Room was better than the photos they used. I stayed 3 nights and chose price over anything else. It was nice, clean and quiet. Front desk service was excellent. My only negative was the breakfast. The eggs just weren't to my liking.

there wasn't a smoke detector in our room and the remote didn't work. It also was a little run down.
