Excellent Breakfast

Posted May 12, 2016
Pros: Ground floor lobby, Elevator, spacious room. Air Conditioning.
Cons: Some maintenance issues. Light and paper holder in bath. Carpet in dining area needs stretching
Location: Located about a walkable mile from all major tourist sites
Check in on ground floor. Elevator to rooms. Some small maintenance issues did not affect our comfort. Carpets are showing some age. One of the best breakfast buffets we have seen in a hotel. Waiter service to take away used plates. Good coffee in carafe but also machine for various espresso types. We have not seen these features in Russia at the rate we paid.

Comfortable and convenient.

Posted Mar 9, 2016
Pros: The room was clean, the bed was very comfortable, the complimentary breakfast was excellent and the location was perfect for a first timer in Moscow.
Location: Location is excellent. A 5 min walk to major metro station, 10 min walk to Red Square and sits in the heart of Old Moscow with many attractions.
Despite the negative things people have to say about this Hotel, it is a beautiful little hotel with friendly staff, clean and comfortable rooms, in a great location and at a decent price. The last two are especially amazing to me. The cost was a fraction of what you would pay in the surrounding hotels and it's location made it possible to walk to all the major sites in the Red Square and Old Moscow areas. I've got nothing bad to say about this hotel and would recommend it to anyone who is travelling on an average budget.

All Moscow All The Time!

Posted Feb 25, 2016
Pros: Excellent staff! clean rooms...good breakfast...VERY convienent to the Kremlin, shops, subway, Bolshoi ballet,
Cons: Really ...nothing..it was exactly what I wanted!
Location: An easy walk to the Kremlin and pretty much everything you'll need..Red Square and other sites will require a car..but Budapest is the most convienent
It depends on what you want. I wanted to feel Moscow every second I was there and the Hotel Budapest was perfect! If you want to see the sites and go back to a hotel with a flat screen..it's not for you! I wanted to see Moscow and return to a typical Russian hotel. The location is a short walk to the Kremlin and also the ritziest mall I've ever seen..great shopping. Walking the streets of Moscow is quite a treat..the staff is first class..the hotel is small, but it affords the guest personalized attention. The subway ( awesome) is just in front of the Kremlin and a must see! Why anyone would have a hamburger in Moscow is beyond me..but if you want the USA at night and Moscow during the day,,stay somewhere else! To me it's a 3 star on a normal scale and a 10 star on the Moscow "experience!" If I'm fortunate enough to return..that's MY HOTEL!! You can get exactly what you want in Moscow..and I want the Hotel Budapest.

Location is the only positive! 5 min to Kremlin.

We booked to stay here months ago and were here 2 nights.Upon arrival this hotel looks old world majestic. That is until you are allocated a room on the 4th floor close to the neighbouring strip club where the sound of music can be heard all hours. The room was in absolute original condition and absolutely every shade of depressing beige you can imagine ! This is just not a 4 star hotel ! The bed spread was disgusting with threads and pulls throughout and it would easily be something salvaged from the 60s. Shower is over bath and not at all suitable for an elderly or physically impaired person. Lighting / so dim so useless for anyone with vision problems. Breakfast : nice that it's included but a hot buffet should not be cold and bread rolls and pastries were rock hard stale!!!! It was really terrible! Service dismal Be careful in winter- there is that much ice at the front door it was slippery. Front of house generally friendly and spoke excellent English. However, was a bit worrying when I needed to send them my Expedia booking confirmation as they could not find it! This was made known during my inquiries for a transfer - Yefgieny was fabulous in arranging very good transfers. There was also the occasional waft of cigarettes coming through the room and this is unacceptable in a non-smoking room. The room was a good temperature for the winter climate. Honestly, the photos on the site show a far more polished, photoshopped and grand hotel than the reality!

I love this hotel. No pretensions, no fuss, no hassle, no hookers. Ok, could make a REALLY GREAT hotel with investment but I love it anyway. Fantastic location.

Very good location.

Location: Nespresso, supermarket, restaurants and bank (to change money) nearby.
Budapest Hotel has a very good location, approximatly 500 meters from Bolshoi Theater.Breakfast is good. Staff is polite and helps. I use the business center without problem. I recommend it.

Its only about the location

Posted Sep 21, 2015
Pros: Only the location
Cons: room decor, update the rather dirty carpet and improve the water pressure from the shower
Location: Locations is great, you are within walking distance from the Bolshoi theater, Red Square and great designer shops
If you want to experience a hotel with the limitations and austerity of the soviet era, this may be your place. The rooms are spacious but the decor is OLD ( not antique, plain OLD) . lighting is terrible and depressing, you can get more water pressure from a hose in your garden than what you can actually get from the shower. really uncomfortable having a shower here. other than that, the location is excellent, just minutes walking from the Bolshoi Theater and Red Square. The included breakfast was actually OK so no complaint on that front. I travel for work and work in the travel industry so I am very objective and a seasoned traveler

Loud rooms with thin old windows

Posted Sep 20, 2015
A lot of night clubs outside, the noise comes through old crooced windows. The location is almost city center.
