Small room for 5 pax with bad water heating

Posted Nov 22, 2016
Pros: Location
Cons: Water heating
Location: Mount Cook Village
Room was really small. For 5 of us, there was a double bed, a single bed and a couch converted to double bed which has no heating pad. The water heater was terrible. It gives hot water for a short while and then cold water. Called the hotel staff and they said that the water heater is very far away and require us to switch on the running tap for 10mins to get the water hot again. Imagine bathing in that condition at 7 deg at night! Cant imagine what it's like during Winter time. Location was quiet and staff was pleasant.

Generally ok but facilities can be improved

Posted Nov 2, 2016
Location: Nearby to Aoraki Mt Cook Village, about 30min away.
The facilities are acceptable considering the relatively cheap price but they were a little far away from the rooms, not too pleasant during cold weather...

Affordable motel close to Mt. Cook

Posted Sep 2, 2016
The motel is not very close to any restaurants so you should cook your own food. You can utilize the very well maintained outdoor BBQ facility. The only drawback is that water for washing isn't available during the winter so you will have to fill up a few bottles and carry them outside. Rooms and bathrooms are clean and neat. Lots of rabbits and some resident hens.

MODERN YET CLOSE TO NATURE

Posted Nov 21, 2015
Found this place on expedia. We found this place after our trip changed direction. Nothing was available in Lake Tekapo. I am glad it worked out that way Glentanner Park Centre is about 7/8 ths the way up to Mt Cook and sits in a natural setting next the river that comes off the mountain. With a view of Mt Cook out the window and wildlife nearby, the self contained unit was very comfortable and had very modern facilities. We were close by to start our exploring early. Ate breakfast at the Mountaineers. Fantastic.

Room with a view

Posted Jan 21, 2015
Cons: The restaurant menu and pricing.
Location: 20 minute drive to Mt Cook. We did the Tasman Glacier tour which was amazing. Got to touch and taste icebergs.
Great location on the shores of Lake Pukaki with the peaks of the Wakefield ranges and Mt. Cook as your backdrop. Cosy family cabin with kitchenette. I suggest stocking food and using the kitchen as the restaurant is quite overpriced for the fare that was on offer. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Loved it!

Absolutely stunning location. Get fuel before you arrive at twisel as the only fuel is at my cook village and you can only pay by card and it is expensive. Not to happy about paying deposit to use kitchen utensils. But otherwise beautiful and would recommend it to anyone. Mike Tsangari uk

Room with a view

Posted Nov 18, 2014
Pros: Comfort and cleanliness as an affordable price.
Location: Hooker and Tasman walks. The Alpine Centre and Visitor Centre were good for a rainy day. Old Mountaineers Cafe was great for a coffee break.
Fabulous location and amazing views on a sunny day. Plenty to keep the the family happy in the surrounding areas. In phenomenal wind the roof stayed on so we were very pleased about that! Thank you.

good value for money

Posted Aug 19, 2014
Pros: friendly staff
Cons: mainly the beds
Location: inconvenient too far from Mt cook.
cheaper than Mt cook accomodation but you pay for what you get, the beds are rubber mattresses which are too soft and uncomfortable. Also no meals available after 5pm in the winter months so unless you bring some food or fancy a 20km drive you go hungry.
