good views of Mt Cook

Posted Mar 1, 2017 on Wotif
Pros: Views from site. Linen supplied (but not towels) Good fridges and freezer
Cons: Power points and stove fixed. Fold out table in cabins and maybe 2 seats. Shower improved. More teatowels
Stayed in a standard cabin. Girl at reception was not overly welcoming and/or friendly. Only 1 staff on, so booking us in plus taking phone calls made it a slow task. Girls shower was just a trickle - (only tried 1 cubicle), which meant that longer time taken using shower and therefore more water wasted A lot of power points and some stove tops not working in the kitchen.

Self-contained ensuite unit

Posted Feb 26, 2017
Pros: It was clean and was adequately equipped for cooking meals.
Cons: The room heater and heating elements in the bed didn't seem to be working (perhaps because it was summer). But the temperatures were relatively low.
Location: Drive to Mt Cook and enjoy the view at the visitor centre and a hot chocolate and muffin at the Old Mountaineer's Cafe. Plenty of walks around Mt Cook
The room had a kitchenette with the usual stuff including dishwashing supplies and a nonstick pan. Nice view of the lake and bunnies. Visitors can also walk to the lake from the park centre.

Cabin with comfortable bed, shower room and basic kitchen with wonderful view of Mount Cook. By lake with conservation area for black stilts ad other birds nearby. Good cafe.

Bring towels

Posted Feb 12, 2017 on Hotels
When we booked the room I had no idea it was a cabin with no towels. A piece of the drywall looked like it was going to fall. Having said that once we figured out the towel issue (no shower) the setting was lovely and we enjoyed walking downto the lake.

remote basics

A bit crowded with 5 in a small studio family room with small kitchen. Fantastic location, kids loved the walk to the river and counting the rabbits. Walls are paper thin so you can hear all your neighbours noises. Was cheap and fun for the kids.
