I'd like to compliment Adrianna who checked us in. She was extremely helpful, polite, patient and smiled the whole time! She represented The Courtyard very well. We also liked our room. It was super clean and welcoming. The welcoming screen on the TV was a pleasant item. Was disappointed that there was no complimentary breakfast. That gave the hotel 4 stars. If it had a complimentary breakfast would have given it 5 stars. All in all - very nice.

No where on the Expedia site did it say there was a $150.00 pet fee It claims they are pet friendly but does not state a fee I understand a pet fee but 150 is a little much And for it not to be stated on the site I think is a little unfair.

Disappointing stay
I have stayed in a couple different hotels in this area and decided to pay more to stay at the Courtyard by Marriott this time - I wish I had gone with the less expensive Holiday Inn nearby! While the staff checking me in was very nice, I was immediately disappointed by the state of the hotel. The decor was dated, but that doesn't bother me so much. If they could do one thing to raise this hotel by a star, it would be replace the old, fraying, stained carpets. My room appeared clean, but on my second night I killed a roach in the bathroom. I kept getting whifs of cigarette smoke that woke me up at night throughout my stay, but the second night the reek of pot smoke in the hallway was terrible and persisted in my room as well. It was awful the last morning I was checking out. I understand pot is legal in NJ and have no bias against people partaking but we have sliding glass doors and balconies, so it would be easy to do so without disturbing neighbors. I also assume it's not allowed in the rooms. I was not asked how my stay was upon checking out, but I volunteered some of this information and was told I should have contacted them to switch rooms. No one wants to pack up all their stuff and switch rooms at midnight. I didn't like that the onus and responsibility for correcting this situation was put back on me. Maybe enforce your no smoking policy. I would never stay here again.
