Dora was very kind. The room was fine.

We really enjoyed our stay at the George in Castletown. The staff are incredibly friendly. The breakfast was really extensive for a Pub stay and was fresh. The only letdown was that we had a standard double bed when we booked a king! We decided not to complain as the room was clean and tidy and we were only there for one night. Would recommend and would stay there again the place has character.

Great view! Unfortunately the hotel is shabby at best and left us feeling conned, as the online description and suspiciously positive reviews paint a misleading picture. Peeling wallpaper and piles of bedding left in narrow hallways from one day to the next. No amenities other than a kettle and a TV - the cheap kettle had scalding steam coming out of the handle and the TV didn't work. No wifi. Grimy windows and flaking paint. The overall impression is of extreme penny pinching, and the rooms are not cheap. This chain seems to have bought up many properties in Douglas and I would avoid them at all cost, it actually harmed our impression of the town.

We had a lovely spacious room with a nice shower, tea/coffee making facilities but unfortunately it was room 206 (207 is likewise) which suffered from loud banging music last Friday night from Wetherspoons next door at 2nd floor level until 03:00am Saturday night wasn’t anywhere near as bad but could still hear music playing loudly after midnight. The breakfast buffet was very nice with plenty of choice of hot food and pastries etc. The hotel is almost on the promenade directly opposite the Bee Gees sculpture and is a 5 mins walk to shops, supermarket and eating places, there is a bus stop virtually outside on the street for a bus to/from airport. Staff were friendly and helpful

Lovely hotel on the sea front. The staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful. Shops, restaurants, steam railway all within walking distance. The breakfast was excellent. The complimentary soft drinks and snacks were a nice touch. Room was adequate for a 1 night stay, lovely bathroom & comfortable bed. Would return again and recommend to others
