Only hotel in town.

Posted Nov 12, 2017
Pretty noisy room as it is only a few yards from I-30W. Bed and sheets were clean. The ironing board cover is filthy and should not be used. It would not cost Super 8 much to replace it. The towels were clean, but I used 2 of the to kill bugs. The room had at least 3 houseflies, multiple gnats/fruit flies, and at least 3 spiders that needed to be squashed. When I walked in sandals without socks over the carpet, my feet and ankles started to itch, so I suspect there may be fleas in the carpet. The carpet is dark in color and the lighting in the room is dark, so it was impossible to examine the carpet in more detail. The complementary breakfast has make-your-own waffles, juice, yogurt, coffee. i recommend that they replace the carpets and fumigate for bugs.

We Thank you for your reply. Had bugs really been an issue you should have contacted front desk and let us know. We are better able to accommodate our guests when we have proof and not just a review. We have Orkin here every month doing checks and spraying in/outside when necessary. We can not control flies, gnats, spiders, etc., (but do spray) as these are insects that live and thrive on this planet unfortunately. And the room you were in (106) we do NOT allow pets. We only put pets in certain rooms, so anyone with allergies does not have any health issues. And if fleas were an issue it wouldn't have been only your feet, and not your guests. So no fleas or anything was in the carpet. And only a "select" clientele does thorough carpet checks. :) God Bless and safe travels!

Best option if you have to stay IN Mt. Vernon.

Posted Oct 16, 2017
Staff was very friendly. The Texas shaped waffle was delish. The room was overall clean. The carpet had a wore down spot. The recliner was obviously broken. It’s a great option if you have dogs or have to stay IN Mt. Vernon.

IF YOU HAVE TO GO THERE ITS PASSABLE

Posted Oct 6, 2017
Pros: It was there.
Cons: Just about everything.
Location: There was a relatively good Mexican restaurant next door, and it wasn't far to get gas. We were in town to bury a relative at a nearby cemetery.
I slept OK. The sheets were clean, but coming unhemmed. The easy chair seat was sprung and had a huge hole in one corner - couldn't sit in it. Bathroom facilities OK. Breakfast was sparse. They tried to switch us into a smoking room, and we had to go upstairs to get a non-smoker. If it weren't the only show in town, I'd not have stayed there, and certainly wouldn't again if I had any choice.

WE really wish you had explained to us the problems you had with your stay. Its hard to believe posts on internet when nothing is said to front desk or management. PS you booked a smoking room online and we switched you to a nonsmoking free of charge. If ever a need to stay again and any issues please let us know on the day of and at the moment of said issue not weeks later when nothing can be done to accommodate you. God Bless and Safe travels!

ADEQUATE FOR AN EMERGENCY

Posted Oct 2, 2017
Pros: Anyway we had a place to lay our heads for the one night we needed it, and there weren't any bugs.
Cons: See above
Location: We didn't stay around long enough.
First, when we arrived having booked well ahead, they tried to put us in a smoking room, so we had to move upstairs. Second, the room was terribly musty - mildewey smelling. Third, the seat in the "easy" chair was completely sprung, with a deep hole in its corner, and so was useful only for putting suitcases on. Fourth, the AC, while it worked hard, was set so it blew up under the window curtains and didn't circulate into the room. We had to hold the bottom of the curtain down with shoes to get AC air into the room. Fifth, breakfast options were really narrow, and they were out of the sweet rolls and waffle syrup when we went in at 7:45.

As I explained to your spouse. Any issues should have been explained at your stay so we could fix the problems right away. YOU booked the smoking room PREPAID through hotels.com online. We had nothing to do with the choice you made of a smoking room and we switched you to a nonsmoking room free of charge. If we only have upstairs availability it is not our fault when the booking was a mistake. We would have gladly held a downstairs nonsmoking if that was asked for in the request comments section when booking. As far as breakfast items being out. Our front desk associate is on hand to replace any items needed. Also owners live on property and would have replaced or bought the items if we were out. They check our stock every single day and replace what is needed. NO OTHER customers complained of any items being out. We are deeply apologetic about the room a/c. We have the same air units that every other hotel has and you can control where the vent blows. God Bless and safe Travels.

Hotel

The staff was good and the hotel was very close to the arena. They called to see if we needed our room cleaned or if we just needed more towels. We told them the number of towels we needed and they never brought them to our room. Then when we went to get them from the front desk they would only allow us 2 towels and wash rags.

We thank you for the review. We apologize for the inconvenience of only giving 2 towels. We try to limit 1 towel per guest so there are enough to hand out to each individual. Sometimes we have more guests than towels. Several have turned up missing here lately. But we have reordered and will be stocked up shortly. Again we appreciate your business and hope to see you again!
