Wonderful hotel, perfectly located

Hotel forum is right outside the amphitheater entrance to the ruins (Scavi). It is well positioned for local restaurants, shops and transport.
The circumvessium train station is a 10 minute walk as is the main piazza with wonderful cathedral (worth a visit). The Vesuvius bus also stops right outside the hotel.
The hotel is fairly basic with limited kitchen capabilities but breakfast was always plentiful. The staff were super friendly and helpful. The rooms were adequate (we had a standard room with extra bed) but a little on the small side for a family of four. We visited in February and I can imagine it would not be so comfortable in the height of summer although there was aircon in the room, but we didn't use it. The room could do with a refurb, especially the bathroom. Beds were very comfortable and we had clean towels daily.
English sky channels were limited to just a single news channel but we hardly had time to watch TV. The citrus grove in the grounds was delightful and there was a lovely roof terrace too.
