Very close to volcano.

Pros: Open dining on the river with beautiful flowers.
We stumble across this hotel by chance in a rain storm and we were very pleased.

Nice place off the grid

Posted May 15, 2017 on Orbitz
Pros: Breakfast was very nice. The scenery was awesome. The housekeeping staff members were exceptional.
Cons: Inappropriate charges for minor children staying in the same room with their parents. $15 is ridiculous.
Location: There is not much at all to do nearby. One must get to their activities by driving or taxi.
The hotel was very nice. This place is located about 25 minute drive from excursions, so we had to pay for a taxi each day to get to our scheduled activities. Few front desk staff members needed some attitude adjustments. Was quite shocked and confused with our final bill. They charged $15 per person each day for our 2 kids. SERIOUSLY? We stayed here for 3 nights, so we had to pay $90 more dollars. It was the principle. With 2 beds in the room, and 2 kids, why did they think it was okay to charge for minor kids staying with parents? As much as we enjoyed this hotel, I will not recommend this place to friends and family. I have 3 couples, with their kids traveling there this summer. I will not recommend this place to them.

Fun at Tilajari

Posted Aug 1, 2016 on Hotels
It was a fast stay but as nice as usual. We like staying here because it is isolated but has a basketball court, tennis courts, swimming pools, sauna, spa, butterfly garden, conference center and many more amenities. We saw an armadillo, a Jesus Christ lizard, many birds and HUGE iguanas. This is a great place for both adults and families. Beautiful gardens too.

The Hotel/Resort is a Tennis Country Club

Posted Apr 24, 2016
Pros: The room was large and very comfortable, with a balcony overlooking the river. The staff were very professional and helpful. The pool was heated.
Cons: No suggestions about the highway noise...
Location: We did not venture out of the resort as our intent was to relax for two days in cooler weather than where we live in Guanacaste.
We arrived Sunday afternoon just as a Tennis Tournament had ended and occupancy was very low. The pool was utilized by local families who are members of the Country club, which is a plus for being an immersion experience. On Monday we enjoyed having the pool and hot tub to our selves for two night stay. The grounds and gardens are lovely and the location on a bend in the river is peaceful, except for the sound of the trucks on the road which was quite close to the resort. We felt if occupancy had been high it would have been a very different experience.

Wonderful bed, clean rooms, edible food.

Pros: the bed and the shower
Cons: The food in the restaurant could do with some work, especially the breakfast.
Location: It is a bit far away from anything. A $20 car ride (minimum) should get you to La Fortuna town where lots is going on.
We arrived at this hotel during the easter weekend. This hotel seems to double up as some kind of country club for rich costa ricans so we therefore arrived at a time when the hotel was likely at its most full. This meant that the pool area was often too crowded to get in. However, the rooms are great, super clean, big beds and a good mattress. There is hot water in the shower (something which one can not necessarily expect in Costa Rica) and most importantly, the staff are amazingly professional and friendly. The place is quite far from the hot springs and walks around the arenal volcano but by itself should offer a relaxing and pleasant stay.

Beautiful hotel property, comfortable rooms, off the beaten path. If you want a quiet, peaceful stay in the Arenal/LaFortuna area, this hotel is for you.

Probably best in the area

Nice hotel near several attractions or if on business the best in the area. Very friendly staff and food was good. Rooms need to be remodeled specialty bathrooms.

Very Bad Experience

Posted Jan 12, 2015 on Orbitz
We had 3 rooms and we were there for 2 days. We didn't have hot water during entire stay. All of us had cold shower. entrance lock was not working in one of the room. Management tried to fix the hot water issue but couldn't fix it for 2 days.
