We didn’t sleep the two days we stayed and left a day early. The hotel is on the entry to the main train station. You can’t shut the window as there was no ventilation. Your given one small hand towel, beds are awful. Only positive is the breakfast staff was very friendly.

Not happy that the private room I paid a premium for did not have a working television for the three days I was there, after multiple requests to have it looked at, including directly to the a&o manager. One reception member even laughed at me when I told him that his colleague the day prior said that a technician would be called. Further, I was very disappointed to learn that a&o did NOT have laundry facilities on the property - even though the web advertisements promote this. This was central to my decision to stay there, and no explanation was provided why the facilities were no longer available.

1. No where in the website where I booked mentioned that it was a hostel. 2. When we got there it was overbooked (frequent practice according to the clerk). 3. The alternative option was to send us to a renovating hotel. Even worse! I guess that’s enough to open your eyes when booking at this place.

This is a very basic, bare bones hostel. For what it is, it's fine--but be aware, it's not really a "hotel" as the expedia listing may say. If you want a private room, be very careful to book that! We booked a family room, which was comfortable enough for our family of four. But be aware that there is no air conditioning, so you'll be opening your windows for cool air onto a noisy street. I would rate higher, given that it's a hostel and you don't expect five-star amenities, but several elements of the room were broken or not working well. Our room's shower barely worked, giving us just a trickle of water that never really warmed up. One of the windows was broken and wouldn't open properly, which was frustrating on a hot night. The area is walkable and safe, with the train station not far for easy access downtown, but there are not many restaurants nearby, so plan accordingly.

Beware, beyond here be monsters...
The only reason I chose this place over 5km out of the city centre was for the guest kitchen and the guest laundry. The guest laundry was out of order. No explanation given. Tough luck. The guest kitchen was a closet in the dungeon basement with a hotplate, bar freezer, a pot and a frying pan. Plates and cutlery had to be requested from the reception. The fridge handnt been cleaned out in so long that several mystery bags had living organisms starting their own attempt at evolving sentient life. A bottle of ketchup and mayo had frozen the selves in the rear wall's ice sheet for future archeologists to muse over. When alerting the front desk the kitchen clearly hadn't been cleaned in months the were very apologetic and I was assured that they were immediately contacting the cleaning staff to take care of it. 2 days later nothing had changed and you could still smell the room from 20m away, through a fire door. This visit has reminded me of what I always knew. A&O is designed for tour groups and highschool class trips to come in, stay a night, charge micro transactions for everything, and get you out 1-2 nights later. Keep that in mind when booking. The hotel was otherwise clean and well kept. But the place is designed to nickle and dime you for every little extra. Despite the name, it is not a hostel, it is part of the new trend of Corporate Hostel/hotel. Hostels are a dying breed in Europe. I wish you the best of luck in finding one

Simply Perfect!!
I was so surprised by this Hostel! Its simple and very clean! The price was absolutely amazing. I was worried about the foam matress but it was very comfortable. The staff was very helpful. I hope all A&O hostels are like this one in Munich. I will now always look for one when making sleeping arrangements.

Check-in was a complete disaster. Terminals out of service, queuing at the reception desk with small kids and nothing happening, three guys chatting, one of them even smoking in a back room. Only when asked, they said that they needed to close the daily cash or whatever, and we had to wait for another 15 minutes without an apology. In the room, the air was hot and heavy (which is ok, airco wasn't included) but the fan was broken and the security cover on it was missing. Meaning that if one of the kids touched the turning fan they would be seriously injured. The room was clean though and the breakfast was ok, although a bit overpriced given the actual offer, especially for children.

The room wasn’t what was pictured, very small for 4 adults. But the room was very clean, bedding was clean and bathroom spotless. Staff were helpful in getting us an early checkin and found my missing shoes. Over all good experience and great location.

Convenient location, within walking distance to train and tram stops. Reasonably clean and comfortable. Only downsides were that the vending machines and lifts were out of service for a good portion of the trip.

For the price, the place itself was decent with a large bathroom and kitchen facilities. But expect noisy neighbors (loud voices and banging of doors into the early hours) if staying here in the heart of Liverpool on a Saturday night, as the city center is noted for its vibrant and diverse nightlife. Plus the pedestrianized areas around the hotel weren't very clean and probably not suitable for families.

Nice stay.
First time staying in a hostel since my 20s. It was much better than I anticipated. Initially they assigned me to a mixed room saying that is what I paid for. Immediately I asked to be moved to a female room and the girl at the front desk let me move. The reception area is really nice and they are helpful. Great deal for Munich.

Affordable, convenient to the s-bahn to the centre, and close to a Lidl for supplies, it is good for the price and had everything we needed. As a bonus, our rental car when we left town was just a minute or two away on foot. I would come back should we stay over in Munich again.
