Close to the main subway terminal

Location: Main train terminal adjacent to hotel - you can get to most places using the train.
I enjoyed my stay here. The staff were nice and accommodating, and the facilities met my expectation. The hotel is next to the main train terminal which means you can get around quite easily. The train station has a few quick bite restaurants and stores, and is VERY nice for a train terminal - top quality. I'm not sure of restaurants within walking distance because we took the train everywhere we needed to go because it was very easy and convenient. The room was large based on European standards but small compared to western standards. Nicely outfitted with a compartmental Euro feel. No luxury but clean, practical and comfortable. There is a restaurant on-site as well and a bar and lounge. We took advantage of the bar during our stay but the restaurant was quite busy when we wanted to go so I can't comment on that. The drinks are standard hotel prices (10 to 15 Euros per drink) but they were good. All of the staff we encountered were very nice with the exception of one front desk worker who made us feel like we were bothering him when we asked questions. Other than that everyone from housekeeping to doorman to concierge to reception was amazingly nice and helpful. We had breakfast in the hotel one morning - it was great. My husband and I shared the full breakfast and it was way more than enough. The only downside to me was that the only English channel on the TV was a news station and there was no way to add subtitles to the stations like other Euro hotels.

Chic hotel in central location.

Hotel room was clean and comfy. Staff were friendly and helpful. In a great location, right next to the main Munich train station.

Strange Hotel

At check in they told no rooms are available and I have to upgrade to suite and pay more!!! I was checking in 9 hours after the check in time yet no room!! I told them cancel my booking I will go to another hotel, suddenly they found a room which was very small Very bad attitude, And will never go back to this hotel

Stay here!

We've travel to Munich annually and would not stay anywhere else. It is a gorgeous property with comfortable beds, quiet rooms and wonderful staff.

Nice hotel, but not great!!

Pros: Great location and friendly staff
Cons: Junior-suite upgrade not worth it.
Location: About 1/2 block from the central train station and walking distance to many tourist attractions.....great location!!
I stayed at this Sofitel and then the one in Frankfurt just a few days later. The price was pretty much the same, but the facilities and service was much better in Frankfurt. I'm not saying the service or facilities are bad at the Munich hotel, but clearly not at the same level as the sister facility in Frankfurt. BTW....do not allow them to sell you the two floor junior-suite upgrade.......it's a waste of money and feels like you're actually in tiny rooms.

Great high tech facility! One Concierge awful

Our hotel room was spectacular with high tech gears for lights, tech advanced toilet, etc! Our one experience with the Concierge, morning of April 22nd at 8:15am was awful! We asked if he could make reservations at one of the famous biergartens and he literally dismissed us saying nothing open bc of weather, he was not only rude, pompous but completely unhelpful! He made a reservation at a restaurant which was good but really touristy. On the other hand the front desk was friendly and helpful! Also many thanks and accolades to the Southeast Asian, wished we got his name, for massively helping us with our rental car! Saved us money and hassle returning car to airport vs right next to hotel, thank you! Overall, 5 Star hotel but one bad egg makes it more like a 2or3 star hotel! Never had that rude experience at Four Season George V in Paris or the Brown's in London and Aria in Prague, all of which we thoroughly enjoyed!

Elegant Hotel

The hotel is beautiful, the staff was friendly and very professional, and the room was very quiet. The bed was very comfortable. The bar and restaurant had wonderful food and very personable service.

Ten Euro solution for five Euro problems

Pros: Impressive Building and great bed.
Cons: Bathroom Design - start over. Storage - clean out the mini-bar drawer and lose the extra pillow.
Location: Train station
Hotel is metres from the train station - convenient but never the nicest part of any German city. Building is impressive and the welcome warm by local standards. Attempted up-sell to King from Double despite king bed confirmation from Expedia. Agent relented and 'upgraded for free'. No matter, their rooms are uncomfortable, design over function. Little low table vs. desk, great lounge chair but impossible to work at the table in. Lots of cupboards and drawers but no storage. Extra pillow fills one drawer but no where to stash it and two other drawers are filled with mini-bar snacks and glasses and the mini-bar sensor system that leaves you disputing charges at check out - another pet peeve. The bathroom is the worst though. Unnecessary glass window between room and tub w/ automatic blinds provide some privacy but the bathroom lacked a proper door. Two large frosted walls slide into position but are cumbersome and insufficient - a wall and door preferable. Mirror is pretty to look at but you can't see yourself in the dark. Lighting overall insufficient despite 15+ sources throughout room. Shower is great and full service heated Japanese toilet a bonus but overall too much design in too small a space. Oh, and if you want to be a 5 star hotel then turn-down service is a non-negotiable.
