We’ve just returned from our second holiday at the Al Falaj hotel and we’re about to book a third. Why? Let’s start with the simple things: delicious food (and so much of it), great rooms, comfortable beds, amazing gym, gorgeous swimming pool, always clean and tidy, and well located for exploring Muscat and the surroundings. But… other hotels could claim the same. Let’s talk about the things are much harder to reproduce. The culture is everywhere; there’s not a single member of staff who doesn’t greet you with a smile: not a ‘it’s my job’ smile but a smile that makes you feel like a friend. There was never a time at Al Falaj at which we felt like a customer – we always felt like guests in the true sense of the word. Think about that. There are hotels in every city that are clean, comfortable and have plenty of amenities but, once you get past the lobby, you could be anywhere. They’re a repeated formula. At Al Falaj you feel like you’re in the best of Oman: the wonderful diversity of people, the hospitality, and the overriding sense of welcome that make the country what it is. At this hotel, there is no doubt about where you are. That comes from culture. It comes from an attention to detail that’s been a part of the place for decades. How do I know this? Because the owner walks around; because he joined us for supper; because he cares. And his care and warmth is reflected in every minute with every member of staff. …and that’s why we’re going back.

The hotel has very good staff's with great service. Room are clean and the bathroom is beautiful. We didn't try the breakfast but it looked. Gym and pool is nice and clean. We found the location very convenient since we were attending evening ceremonies at the Krishna Temple. Highly recommended this hotel with good rates.

The hotel is clean but they don't have soundproof rooms which was noisy to me at sleeping time.. Front desk staff unfortunately they are not professional at all.

Good Hotel and Highly recommanded
The Hotel is good and there are no complaints about any services, Room sizes, Toilets, and the Bed was very good and well maintained and comfy. The only flaw which could be completed is the corridor look, the old-fashioned wooden cladding looks much outdated and dark in corridors. Rest was amazing breakfast, gym and pools area were great with reasonable rates they offer. Highly recommended!!!

Very good hotel in Muscat
I really like this hotel (my 5th stay there). Staff is friendly. Rooms are great ( recommend deluxe room). Now with the covid the dinner is on a set menu, but everything is good.

Good hotel w/ a flaw
Housekeeping was the bugaboo. My room was not cleaned by 2PM and when I requested it, I noticed that althoughI requested my sheets to be changed they were not. Since I got back in late and needed to get ready for the next day I did not place another request. Hotel has a lot going for it. Service is excellent other than housekeeping. Breakfast buffet is good. Pool is lovely.

Great Hotel, Convenient Location..
The location of the hotel is very convenient if you'd like to be close to some attractions in Muscat. The price was unbeatable compared the many hotels in the area if you're not expecting to stay in a beach hotel with all the facilities. It was a good experience overall.

Single night business stay
A single night business trip in November 2019. The hotel is really good value for money, the service is excellent, the food was of a really good standard. The hotel is a bit out of the way and I guess the price reflects the location. The room was of a good standard, the wifi was ok but dropped out from time to time eating breakfast by the pool was very pleasant.

The hotel was quite central, though given the size of Muscat meant we were not that close to anything without using a taxi. We did find a good restaurant nearby and the swimming pool was a godsend. Hotel is geared up for business and functions, no tourist map available, little bits like this would have made all the difference to it being excellent rather than pleasing.

- Room is small - Room Television channel, network and picture quality is below average (or horrible) - TV channels in restaurants like The Pub, Sports Café are below par - Sports Café TV does not have optimum Sports channels ie. Not nice hotel, near nothing
Bad accommodations, dirty room, old facilities, none carring, told them 3 days my bathroom is still dirty and no change, all staff from indian community and no diversity and getting across was hard, never ever come back

Good hotel, good breakfast, very helpful staff
There was some noise coming from a party function hire room, and i could see everything from my window, at night the palm trees looked amazing. Had a glimpse of the pool which was nice. Breakfast was really good over 40 different varieties and switched up the menu every day so could taste a selection of food. The guy that made omelettes at breakfast was so fast and quick. 2 pools a good size, sunbathing beds, lovely clean area, a gym, pretty much all the facilities. The manager at reception was very helpful, they helped with booking a car that arrived promptly, they also have other hotel facilities such as tour guides for tourists. Cleaning facilities really good, free toiletries, complimentary bottle water, kettle, iron and ironing board, a personal safe for belongings. Free Wifi. Massage facility for men in the gym, should have it available for women too.

Location is acceptable in quiet area
Had bad experience as my room was not available on arrival and had to wait for over 3 hours to get a room and no refreshments were offered nor being updated on room status while waiting. Wifi service was not reliable as it seemed fine one minute and no response the other. However. Management was excellent in responding

A value option and just ok
It’s was tough doing a review. It is just a good value hotel which I believe is a 3 star and unfortunately away from the highway, and also away from the buzz of Al Qurum, Al Ilam, and Al Khuwair. Although close to the Muttrah waterfront, the Souk, fish market and the Royal Palace, which is an easy taxi ride. The crew at Al Falaj are really great and the Sri Lankan Aitken Spence (Management) influence is evident in the awesome food fare and the tea lounge. So overall, it is a budget option, very basic, with good people, in comparison to the other pricey and glamorous options. Also it would be good to hook up with a good taxi driver outside of the property as the taxis that operate out of the hotels tend to gouge you as there are no other options nearby. A rental would be a good option. The concierge’s arm can be twisted into giving you a few outside taxi options and mobile phone numbers. The Lulu Hypermarket is a OMR 2 taxi ride away.

Great facilities and location with awesome breakfa
Before arriving at the hotel we called about 10 times and emailed them to book a shuttle from the airport, but they didn't pick up and no reply to the email. 2 hours before the flight they finally picked up the call only to tell us since its too close to our arrival they have no available cars. So the beginning wasn't very nice, but when we arrived it had nice lobby, clean room and interesting facilities. My husband had a small cut on his finger and asked if they had a band-aid they said no, so bring some basic medical stuff since the hotel doesn't offer these. They have great breakfast and actually very reliable taxi services run by the hotel. We had a pleasant stay after all in Muscat and will recommend.

I had to ask for water bottles upon arrival and next day as well. Food from room service is not great at all. Rooms were clean and comfortable.
