Very nice hotel with great view of White Lake.

Posted Jul 11, 2014
Pros: The location was beautiful and the view was really great. Our stay was relaxing. The quality of service and friendliness of staff were great.
Cons: Nothing
Location: There are lots of things to do - Marina, boating, Great Adventure - very well located to do things.
Really enjoyed all aspects of our stay. People were very friendly. The view was great. The food was excellent. The beds were very comfortable. The room was clean and well taken care of each day of our stay. We plan to return and bring our family with us.

had to find, close to the lake.

Posted Jul 27, 2013
Pros: not much at all.
Cons: they could add AC to the rooms.
Location: Michigan Adventure we had 7 of our Grand kids.
When we got to the hotel I was given a bill that the rooms were 166.99 a night for 2 rooms when I was quoted 155.00, then we got to the rooms and found that they were clean but no AC in the rooms it was very hot out, so we did not stay we left and looked for a different hotel.

Pass on This One

The mattresses were worn out and the AC unit smelled of mildew. We were shown rooms that were not clean. Not a place I'd go back to.

early 20th century charm

Posted Jul 30, 2012
Location: right on White Lake, but several miles from downtown
As one of the original resorts on White Lake, it has an early 20th century charm. We stayed in the original lodge. The bathroom was quite small but serviceable. Carpeting was old but appeared clean. Staff was very helpful and friendly. The breakfast was sufficient. The view of the lake was wonderful. Directions provided on Expedia were incomplete and made it difficult to find the resort (did not mention that we would come to Lake Street which in a few blocks would change name to South Shore Drive; we spent several minutes trying to find South Shore and finally called the hotel for directions; also did not mention how many miles the resort was from downtown Whitehall; from the address it appeared the resort was much closer).

For your great grand parents

This is a hotel for baby-boomers born before 50s. Everything is so old. The location is perfect, but buildings and standards are from previous era.

great location

Posted Aug 2, 2011
72 year old family owned "resort". Many room choices. Not modern, rustic, fine if you like roughing it. Power went out just as we sat down to dinner in dining room. No air conditioning, or lights, or water. Power out till following day at 11am. (hotel did comp that night's stay). Front desk not knowledgeable about activities, services in areas. Unable to recommend things to do in area. No boat or water sport rental at hotel. Great place if you just want a great view and sit and relax at lake. Channel to Lake Michigan very nearby.

Great waterfront location, disappointing rooms

Posted Jul 20, 2011
Sheets old and elastic worn, would not stay on bed, nowhere to set anything in bathroom, rooms quite "tired", no tissues, coffee, hairdryer in room. Nice and friendly staff, beautiful waterfront location. You're paying for the view and not much else.

Lakefront and service is nice, but not thrilled with room.

We wanted a quaint place to say for a night that was on the water so we chose Lakeside Inn. The rooms are not exactly as they appear on the website. Beds appeared to be modern, but couch and room was quite old. The bathroom had a tiny sink with no counter top, or shelf for that matter so we had to use the window sill as a counter. The room was extremely bright early in the morning due to the lack of adequate window coverings. It’s nice to see the sun in Michigan, but not at 5:30 in the morning. The room was lit up brightly - very early – and therefore everyone was up earlier than normal. We must have stayed in the oldest part of the building. We were directed to walk up some outside stairs to get to our room and it didn’t seem real clean as we overlooked part of the roof, and entrance to the kitchen (I believe). Also, the restaurant was not open during our stay, and we were not aware of that. It was actually opening a day after we left. They did have continental breakfast open. With all of that said, the staff was very friendly, and the place overlooks the water. It just didn’t hit my family as a place we’d want to come back to just due to the room setup, and how outdated the room was.

Adventure travel!

This is a family owned resort that was started in the 1900's. The history is facinating and the resort is covered with old photo's to see the conception of the hotel. I'm happy to see this type of resort still exists!! It is unique and sits on a beatiful lake convenient to Michigan Adventure.
