This hotel is a nightmare. Staff are rude.

This is probably the worst hotel experience I've ever had and I have traveled to over 100 cities in over 40 countries. I booked a 'suite' - the best hotel room they had. When I arrived, first they could not find my booking and spent about 15 minutes getting that sorted, then when I entered the room and plugged in an adapter into a socket outlet the whole outlet fell apart - I went to the from desk, she did not seem surprised by this and she laughed. The lights in the room did not work properly and had to call an engineer to fix that. I attach a photo of the view from my 'suite' - I think the photo speaks for itself. The breakfast is old soviet sausages and stale cheese, the coffee could probably be used to clean clogged pipes.
Nikolaev in itself is probably one of the worst places in Ukraine. On my way from the central bus station the taxi driver told me that I was in a premium taxi and 'there is no need to wear a seatbelt' ... he was also very chatty and took out a huge hunting knife saying "I keep this around in case someone does not pay up." The roads are crumbling, crime is rampant and the pollution will leave you gasping for air. Also there are gangs of petty thieves roaming the streets at night, looking to mug foreigners to get some cash for their next fix. There is really nothing to see or do in Nikolaev, so unless you absolutely have no choice to come here, my advice would be to avoid this Ukrainian city altogether.
