Disappointing-- Pools were closed without notice

We stayed in tower 2 from April 1-8. We splurged on a large corner room and loved the extra space. The large windows and larger balcony were amazing. We also had a crib delivered for our baby without hassle. The room was exactly as described. We were extremely disappointed that 3 out of 4 pools were closed without notice. The pools were supposed to reopen March 22(as it said on expedia's website)-- but they were closed for our entire stay. We booked this hotel because of the pools and lazy river. We would have stayed at a different place if we knew this in advance. It was disappointing spending a week there without being able to use the pools in our building (especially the lazy river).

Nice view - a bit of a let down

Pros: The view
Cons: Better communication on website regarding CURRENT status of facilites
Location: Most of the kid friendly things are in South Myrtle, but the drive is not bad. With no car you would be somewhat limited - beach is quite nice.
View was great 3 of 4 pools were closed for resurfacing ? No one was working on them from Sunday to Wednesday. We were told they would open Thursday - still had no water in them Friday when we left. That beautiful pier cost 3 $ per person per day to walk on, this should be mentioned. Not a lot of money, but more the principal. We ate at the resutaunt at the pier, and were not allowed to go for a walk on it unless we paid another 12$, after dropping 100$+ on diner& drinks.

While we are happy to hear that you enjoyed your view, we are sorry to hear that the remainder of your stay was not as enjoyable. We apologize that you were misinformed about the reopening of our pools. We do have an advisory on Expedia that the pools are closed through March 22nd and we will address this with our staff to make sure they are giving the correct information. This information is listed under the Renovations and Closures section which is under the area where the room is selected on the Expedia website. While the Prince Resort sits at the base of the Cherry Grove Pier and manages the restaurant there, the pier is individually owned, therefore staying at the Prince Resort and/or eating at the restaurant will not affect the pricing set by the pier and its owners. We hope that you will give us another chance when our pools reopen as we do strive to provide our guests with relaxing and memorable vacations.

Right on the beach

Pros: Lke having a full kitchen and w/d. View of the beach is wonderful...
Cons: Updates to the lobby were very disruptive. Could have been better timed.
Location: Right on Cherry Grove Beach.
Second time at the Prince. Great amenities. Could use some updating.

Outdated and out of the way

Outdated rooms and far away from restaraunts and nightlife. Perfect for families staying at the hotel the entire trip.

While we are situated a little further from the main areas there are plenty of restaurants and other business along Sea Mountain Highway which is about a half mile from us.

Older hotel but still nice.

Had to evacuate our building due to a false fire alarm and could not use the elevator ,I have bad knees so coming down 16 flights of stairs was hard. We were across from the beach but still had a nice view.

The lack of a decent bar on site. No vending machines to get a snack. The requirement to leave a 200 cash deposit because i live near by and then i couldn't get it back until 4 hrs after i checked out. I won't be coming back.

Good Morning, Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. We do rely on our guest reviews for future improvements. Although our 3500 restaurant is closed for the slow season, we do offer a full bar at the Boardwalk beach cafe. I hope that you were able to find your way there as they make some great drinks. Although we do require a local security deposit, I want to apologize for it taking so long to get this back to you. They are kept in a safe that only managers have access to so if it was very early or very late, this may have been the delay. If we know ahead of time an approximate departure time, we always make arrangements for our guests to avoid this delay. I do apologize if this wasn't explained correctly at check in. We do reduce the amount of vending machines that are stocking during the winter, as we just don't have the business to move the stock along, but front desk should have supplied you with an amenity sheet letting you know where the stocked machines were located. We are truly sorry you experienced issues with your stay and hope that you will visit us in the future to give us another try at showing you the level of service of guests have come to expect. Made the best out of a less desirable situation.

We were not impressed. The room condition was very old. We had issues with lots of little things such as: none of the TVs worked until my wife reprogrammed them, we were not able to see the ocean in the ocean view room. So we made them move us to a better room. The elevators were sticking and you had to push on the doors to get them to slide. The toilet ran most of the night, you could hear others flushing. The bed took up most of the bedroom so the bedroom door would not close. The balcony was so tiny that two people couldn't sit out there. The pillows on the bed were really worn out. The fitness center had old, worn out (broken) equipment. Parking was easy. The complimentary DVD machine could not keep up with the demand, so choices of DVDs were very limited. However, there was cable and free HBO. The staff was really nice and polite. They seemed to try and make our stay desirable. All in all, we made the best out of a bad situation. We will choose elsewhere next time.
