"Okay"

Food is over-priced, which was a shame because the surrounding area only has one restaurant within walking distance. Breakfast also costs extra and is not included in the price of the room. Rooms are good for the price, however, our booking confirmation said that we would have a smoking room, but our room was non-smoking. When we had a cigarette outside in the smoking area, twice we were shouted at by the restaurant manager, who told us that we had to leave the hotel premises entirely if we wanted to smoke (we weren't even allowed to smoke in the car park). I would recommend avoiding the restaurant and order room service instead since the restaurant manager had a running theme of getting irrationally angry at customers. The location wasn't great either - to get to Amsterdam you have to get a bus and then a train. Overall 'okay', due to the food being overpriced. Staff were lovely and very helpful (apart from the restaurant manager). The location is pretty poor if you want to spend time in Amsterdam. Would not stay in this hotel again.

Amsterdam holiday

Nice, basic no frills

Hotel is fairly noisy with people going to bed late and very late as the sound easily carries through the door into the room and can wake up the non deep sleepers. Disappointing food, steak tasted from frozen (liver texture), cant seem to do soft boiled eggs at breakfast.

Relaxing stay with excellent breakfast

The breakfast is perfect, everything is tasty and fresh. Only the free WiFi is rather slow (you have to pay almost 10€ for one day higher bitrate, which at that price I did not even test.

Basic Hotel Should Not Be 4*

Pros: The Piano in the restaurant
Cons: The attitude of the staff. The knowledge of the staff. The decor. The beds. The Sheets. The Towels. Pretty much everything could be improved.
Location: The location is awful. Not ideal for travelling to Amsterdam especially if there are any works going on. As the Hotel will not notify you of any work.
The hotel was very basic and not up to the standard I would expect of a 4* hotel. The staff were helpful at points. However, a few of them were quite rude and abrupt. I asked for a drink at the bar to be put on my room tab and the member of staff behind the bar very abruptly said no we do not put drinks on rooms!! Even though I had previously put a drink on my room number and was asked the following day if I would like to. The transport into Amsterdam is not great and the hotel staff are rather useless at helping you with this. Knowing full well I was going into Amsterdam, none of them told me that the bridge would be closing later on in the evening. This therefore ended up costing me a 185 Euro taxi journey that took an hour and a half. The room was very basic, the sheets and towels were very uncomfortable and my tiny window view was simply a car park!! Overall I was very unimpressed and will never stay in an NH Hotel again.

The hotel offers one double bed for two guests, but the bed is too soft that one person's move will affect the other. I would recommend more solid mattress. Other than that, the hotel is pretty good overall. It provides very good breakfast with lots of choices. The hotel restaurant also has beautiful view.

Disappointing!

We stayed here for the weekend when visiting family. We booked here by accident - usually we stayed in the sister location Jan Tabak. This is very typical NH property, but rooms definitely need upgrade. Even having the window open on arrival didn't erase the stuffy smell. One bedside lamp was broken. Our courtyard view was a big asphalt car park. We were unlucky to have very noisy tourists on the same floor and had to call to reception to have them calm down a bit. Breakfast was good, and the location is good also for those who visit Amsterdam. There was a decent gym in the property as well.
