It was a very nice hotel with many amenities. The room was spacious and the breakfast buffet was amazing! There was Nagano specific foods and western style breakfast options as well.

Very convenient location, very central, within walking distance from the Zenko-ji temple. Staff was welcoming and helpful. Breakfast buffet is very nice and with a superb view.

We stayed here for 2 nights. Room was clean and basic. Bed comfortable. Front desk need a lot of improvement. Not really helpful when we enquire on carpark. For some odd reason the internal carpark is not available for guest. We have to find outside carpark to park our car which is very inconvenient. They have good laundry available which is a plus sign. Just don't dine at the Chinese restaurant!! Overall is an okay hotel. Dont expect too much.

Great stay at JAL Nagano
Great location. Gave us good quality umbrellas to use when it rained. Was able to meet friends & talk & relax in clean, comfortable lobby.

Snow Monkey Park base
A one night stay to go and visit the snow monkey park, the staff we’re very helpful and even though we arrived early were able to leave our bags and then when we returned, they had been delivered to our room. Walking distance to the train station and also walking distance Zenko-Ji temple. The air con in the room was a bit confusing with a stand-alone unit. The Bathroom decor could do with modernising but it was very clean, in good condition and everything still worked. For a small room you could still move about and unpack your bags.

Hotel JAL - not so good
The place is centrally located between Nagano Station and Zenkoji Temple - but if you are using Nagano as a stop point for day trips out, being closer to the station is more convenient. The room was really tiny and difficult for two people to maneuver. The bathroom was really tight. The Breakfast wait area is tiny and a lot of people waiting - inflow from the elevator and into elevator got quite cumbersome. Would opt for another.

Pretty good for what it is
The rooms are Japanese sized, meaning much smaller than US equivalents. The hotel is quite old, and it's showing it's age, but still relatively clean. Breakfast is on the top floor and you get a good view! Food was decent, a lot of variety. The location is good, walkable with luggage to Nagano station and to Shinjo Temple. The restaurants in the area are opened a lot later than the other parts of Nagano. Nothing special, but for a quick stay and not spending much time at a hotel, it was fine.

Very disappointed!!!
The room was very disappointing. There were stains on the carpet, a lot of marks/stains on the walls, the bathroom sink was cracked, the bathroom vent constantly smelt of smoke (non-smoking room). The breakfast was limited and cold and nothing fresh. The air-conditioner did not work (even at 30 degrees Celsius) the room was cold. After speaking to the manager his only response was that "the hotel was built in 1993".

Hotel & room are a bit dated but good value. The city is not the most exciting in Japan & not much to see. I won't be back.

Stayed 1 night, just needed somewhere to sleep in Nagano. It's about 10-15 min walk from JR station, can take bus/taxi if you have heavy bags. Hotel clean, staff lovely. Room tiny (similar to business hotels that cost half as much). Place could do with updating, not enough outlets in room (1 with a splitter). Would stay again if couldn't find somewhere nearer station for less.

Quiet Hotel
This is the 2nd time I've stayed at this property & didn't want to stay this time but everything else I looked at was booked. It's in a convenient location about a 10 minute walk from the JR station & Zenko-ji. The rooms desperately need updating though because the carpets were tattered and stained and the walls were marked up which gave it a less than clean feel, even though it was clean. Rooms are very quiet. No safes and their internet was down. They provide a nice seating area among the lovely plants out front for us smokers, which I appreciated.

Great location
We enjoyed our stay here and was a good value for the area. We stayed at a nearby hotel that was just $10 less but not nearly as nice as this one. Courteous staff, comfortable beds and nice amenities. Once of the best things is that there is a grocery store across the street with a good bakery to pick up breakfast.

It's good, run of the mill hotel with ok facilities. But it is rather showing it's age and in need of a renovation and redone. The paint job in my room needed be redone.

3 star hotel which has seen better days, about a 10 minute easy walk from station on way to the must see Zenkoji temple, lots of restaurants close by. Staff were really friendly but spoke very limited English so hard to be understood. Room not bad but we had paid for an upgrade (which I would recommend, wouldn't have liked anything smaller), bathroom spotlessly clean but very small, but bed and pillows uncomfortable. We had dinner in the Skybar, lovely view but no atmosphere which was a shame. The food ordinary and too expensive. If you are looking for a reasonably priced hotel in a handy location this hotel is fine, if you want a bit of luxury maybe try somewhere else.

When in Nagano stay at Hotel JAL City
Wonderful hotel in terms of location, room comfort,cleanliness and good service. Considering the "remoteness" of Nagano from national center like Tokyo it's difficult to find such great accommodation at such reasonable price.

Got in relatively late and caught a 7am train. Was able to walk from the train station. Room was clean, there was lots of good places to eat &drink within walking distance. Was perfect for a quick overnight.

Tiny rooms - but great location
The location of JAL Nagano City is excellent. The room was well maintained, but they are all really tiny - a bit like staying in a caravan. The hotel though was very affordable and that was the trade off. Nagano is a city that most skiers bypass, but it is definitely worth a stay for a couple of days. See the snowmonkeys while you are there rather than having the back track through Nagano if you are subsequently staying in the snow.

This hotel is located about three blocks from the Nagano JR station. It was a bit of a confusing walk, but once we found it, it was very nice. We arrived on a Thursday evening. We had reserved a small double room, and the desk clerk told us that since the hotel was not very busy that night, we had been upgraded for free to a larger room with a king-size bed. The room was comfortable and clean, and even though it was located near the elevator, it was nice and quiet. We ate breakfast at the hotel's 16th-floor restaurant, which has a beautiful, panoramic view of Nagano. The breakfast buffet was good, although some of the hot foods (bacon, sausage, French fries) were not as hot as I would have liked. Still, that is a minor complaint. The buffet included a good range of western and Asian breakfast foods, and was worthwhile for the view. We stayed there the night before our trek to the Jigokudani Wild Monkey Park in Yudanaka. Next time, we would probably stay closer, but getting to the park from Nagano wasn't too difficult. I would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Nagano.
